GR86 GR86 - What wheels and tyres are you thinking about?

Sure thing. I’ll see what I can do.

If you do decide to look at the Enkei RPF1 (as let’s face it, in terms of cost/quality they’re hard to beat) speak to Josh @ Torque-GT, he’s a really good guy. https://www.torque-gt.co.uk/
Thanks for the suggestion, I see the torque-gt guys mentioned in these threads quite frequently.

Unfortunately doesn't seem like the RPF1's will give me the lip / concavity I want unless I got to a 9.5" which I think is too wide.

The evo's are looking great on those pictures, hard to decide which colour would look best on a grey 86.. Silver or Bronze 🤔

GR-Zoo group buy? @AndyRC 😉
Well it is possible

Q. Are group buys possible, and what discount can we expect?

A. Absolutely, with a minimum of 5-sets a group buy is possible. That will lower costs enough to give a 10% discount. With an order of 15-sets this could extend to 20%. An order of 15-sets also enables a custom factory run, that is not dependent on any other factors, in line with custom sizing also.

If there is enough interest it could a big saving 🤔

@DesmondWheelsEU Thanks for the info 👍 , is there a 17inch version in a suitable spec for the GR86, couldn’t see anything on the website 🤔

Technically, yes.

However, they're a 5Zigen exclusive, and I need to find out if I can even get hold of them. They're a 17x7.5 +44.

Interesting, thanks for the info!

I need to do some more research into options before I commit to anything, but these check a lot of my required boxes so mark me as tentative for the GB!

Also, a special zoo edition of the wheel would be pretty cool 😎 - 15 of us agreeing on sizing might be a tall task though 🫣

P.s I believe these guys offer an forum discount already, outside of the group buy pricing. I assume it's less than 10%!

@DesmondWheelsEU thanks for the info. I’m sure there would be interest in both 17 and 18 inch versions For the GR86. I’ve created a dedicated thread to discuss these alloys 👍

Now that’s an interesting idea @Gal14 , good luck with that project 👍, I can see enough folk wanting these but agreeing a spec and colour that 15 folk were happy with would be like trying to herd cats 🐈 , anyway if it helps put me down for 17 inch in bronze , so you only need 14 other🐈 and maybe the odd 🦊 😂😂😂

Yes, I try to adjust pricing outside of group discounts.

Colour doesn’t need to match amongst all 15, just a size specification.

Japan Racing JR32
ET38 8.5J 18inch
Michelin PS4 225/40/18
Alloys are flush, I’m really happy with the fitment. I didn’t want the tyres to be much wider than OEM, so I’ve gone up to 225 which fits the 8.5j width and gives it a bit of stretch, but nothing silly.

For those that have gone with after market wheels are you planning on selling or keeping the OEM rims?

Keeping mine on a pallet wrapped up at the moment. May use some of the rubber for a track day at some point.

Think I’d always want the option of selling car in original spec.

I’m toying with the idea of getting the black paint on the OEM wheels stripped and either lacquered to give a natural silver look, or more likely getting the paint code for the BRZ gun metal OEM alloys and getting them redone in that colour. As far as I can see the BRZ alloys are identical to the GR alloys. Think the gun metal is a better match for sapphire blue than black. Only concern is with the GR86 being such a rare car if I want to sell in the future are people going to want it completely stock?

Not exactly expensive for them to put it back to stock black if they really wanted.... But I really can't see anyone doing that when yours would look much better! (IMO)

I had a set of 18" wheels fully stripped and powder coated bronze for £240inc VAT. If you really want to return to stock you can make them black again before you sell.

I think it would look way better with gunmetal wheels - I even did a mock up here when the first photos of UK cars in SB came out - crude but you get the idea:
