GR86 GR86 Duckbill spoiler install

Cheers (y)

Take it you ordered it via “Consolidated Sea Freight - Slowest (usually every 3 - 4 months)” as its showing out of stock currently?
DHL next day, but this is obviously only the case if its in stock. So I imagine it will be on the next shipment that Fensport make. I'm hoping to get it by September.

I have a rattling sound when opening the boot so I took the inside trim off and of the 6 nuts holding the original plastic spoiler thingy onto the boot, 4 were loose and 1 missing. I presume the dealer didn't tighten them up enouigh when they fitted the Duckbill spoiler and one of the nuts is now rattling around in the boot lid. I have ordered a long flexible magnet so hopefully I'll be able to get it out in a day or two. Might be worth checking if you've had one fitted. It's very easy to take the trim off, I just used a flat head screwdriver and they pop out.

Just ordered my black duckbill TRD spoiler - for my white car...

I think I'm just going to stick it on with 3M. I don't see the point in bolting it down, when the bolts themselves are secured with 3M tape... just seems stupid not to trust one set of 3M. And every other spoiler I've ever had has just been 3M and they've been fine...

Looking forwards to seeing what a black spoiler on white car looks like!

This is exactly what I've done as well. Hasn't fallen off yet! There are 2 central bolts that are fixed to the spoiler rather than 3M'd but makes little difference if dealers don't tighten them up!

Black on white looks bang on to me, and it matches the mirrors so very glad I chose the same over a white ducktail (y)

The bolts though, if you check them they're actually secured to the spoiler with 3M... haha no joke!
You've done it already!? Awesome.

Please upload some pictures <3

Yeah there are 6 bolts in total. 4 of them are stuck to the spoiler with 3M so I prised those off. Then there are 2 central bolts which are part of the spoiler but you can just slide them out.

Okay... I am way more confident now with the fact I chose black.

Looks awesome. I've got my car booked in for window tints (15%, I think anymore than 15% look a bit too much) and roof wrapped black... combined with this spoiler. It's gonna be awesome. The panda is born!

Thanks very much

Looking at your photos @doogle83, I feel like the mismatching black spoiler works with the black roof, but not with the body coloured one.

I might stick to the electric blue spoiler after all, since I've got no intention of putting black ppf on my roof at the moment. But in the future both roof and spoiler could be wrapped in black if I change my mind.

Yeah that's fair, I've got used to it with a white roof but then black / white is more of a classic combo than black / blue 🤷‍♂️

I'm still very tempted to get mine wrapped so looking forward to some photos @James-UK !

... If for no other reason than to match the Yaris a bit more :ROFLMAO:

Yeah they aren't all taped down so bolt directly to the supplier - for me the temperature is too cold for 3M right now unless you bring it inside like I did and having bolts for me ment pressure being put on the 3M to give it a good bond and why recommend bolting if not needed?

Each to there own 🤷‍♂️

Maybe it needs bolting due to the massive increase in downforce 😛😂

I know... I should have taken them off the car tbh :p
The performance pack of Brembos , alloys and sachs dampers was an absolute bargain on the GT86 at circa £1400 , and that was only a few years back 🤷‍♂️

Interesting using 3M only with no bolts/drilling - the dealer I bought my car from said they cant see the spoiler on their parts system and their bodyshop wont fit it - seems they just dont want the responsibility!

Which dealer are you with? My spoiler is going on in Bracknell this weekend

Thanks Stardus
Sandhurst, so Bracknell is doable for me. Whos your contact that arranged it all and how much was it? If you want to PM me I can grab their details and maybe ask them based on what they're doing to yours?
Im keen for front mud flaps too which I know I can fit mysefl but sort of useful to get everything done together.
