GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Argh….. nothing is ever simple in the world of GR86s 😂

I may have spoke too soon about picking up my car after the quick turnaround by the dealer.

They called me this morning to say the TPMS light was on the car, they’d checked everything and were satisfied pressures were correct and everything was working as it should.

Normally, this light will go out after an extended few miles of driving and therefore would I like to pop down and give the car a quick drive? (They were conscious of putting miles on a brand new car, so wanted to give me the chance to do this).

I of course gladly accepted, so drove the car with their salesman for about 10 miles…. Unfortunately the TPMS light is still on…..

So now the tech needs to do another check to make sure everything is ok. I’ve already said I’m happy to take the car with the light on, subject to them double checking there isn’t actually a puncture already.

However, it now comes down to whether they are willing to release the car later to me if they think there is another issue (its possible it just needs a few more miles to reset).

They’re giving me a call later once the tech has had another look, but possible I won’t get my car after all today.

At least I’ve driven my own car now so if it doesn’t happen today, not the end of the world!

Dealership has been fantastic too so can’t fault them. It just one of those things, possibly the TPMS issue can’t have been helped by the car sitting around for 4 months….

Anyone else who has collected had any TPMD related issues?
TPMS was on in the demo car I drove too. If it’s anything like my i30N in these temperatures, they’ll need to overinflate the tyres by about 5 PSI, then drive around for the light to go off, then release back down to correct pressures.

When I had my test drive the TPMS was on for the demonstrator. They checked the pressures before I went out and all were fine so we carried on. It stayed on for whole drive. On a similar note my 2019 RAV4 TPMS light comes on as soon as the weather turns cold, despite all tyres being at correct pressure
Same for me - the TPMS light was on the demonstrator at Leeds (can't remember if it went off) but all tyres seemed OK.

Thanks all.

Will see what the dealer says later but sounds like fairly common issue and no reason to hold off on giving me my car!

was on on my demo too 🤔

The TPMS sensors have batteries, I’m guessing they probably charge as the wheel rotates, so possibly have gone flat if they’ve been standing for 8 months, hopefully not so flat they’ve become damaged. Come to think of it I think the test car I had, had the tpms light on

They tend to be non rechargeable coin batteries. A bit too much tech to fit in to be able to charge them with kinetic motion.

I caved and gave them a phone.

Car awaiting PDI
Once done gets released for load then dispatched about 2 days later
Delivery to dealer usually 2/3 days.

Likely hood of having before Christmas - I think is minimal

Online team are being super friendly though, it’s hard to get irate with them considering I think they are more in the dark than us.

Last one I spoke to seemed to want to end the call quickly, even though when I asked when the ETA was they kept me on hold for ages. They said by Christmas but I can't see how. They have pretty much one more week to get it transported down and get it PDI'd and registered. Given the lack of go in my dealer up to now, I have no confidence. It's not even a feeling of disappointment I'm just completely jaded by it all. I am putting it down to this time of year too as lots of my hobbies are on hold too but the whole year has been dominated by this and it's been one disappointment after another. I have no doubt that once it arrives I'll love it and that's the only thing I can hold onto.

Not sure about you, driving up north this morning and every car trailer I saw, was looking out for our GR86's, only managed to spot some Ford Fiestas :(

I know the feeling, I pushed the fact my dealer was expecting it last week and was given the. “That’s a phantom date, for the system”

My dealer won't even check the system and keeps fobbing me off. Probably because we all know the dates are nonsense
I was advised not to bother the dealer, as they are purely there for handover and the most accurate info comes from the online ordering team, all comms should be through them.

I know exactly how you feel. It's why I was so angry when even at the last moment, I was unable to collect - this purchase has all I've been looking forward to during a pretty tough year at work, and although it sounds trivial, the thought of not having it at least before my Christmas holiday was gutting to consider.

All I can say is, at least you definitely know it's on the way and I can tell you it is going to be worth the wait.

Yet again totally different experience depending upon the dealerships 🤷‍♂️ , I got an unsolicited call from the guy I deal with to say he could see my car on the system and the other three due there 👍 TBF I’ve been into dealerships and felt as though I was being a nuisance asking for a test drive in a car for the CEO 🤬

What's amazing is ours were on the same boat yet there's a difference in delivery now. I'm hoping there's nothing wrong with it and all is fine.
