They are a nice-to-have option, but as we are all getting a camera, I'll just console myself with the fact that at least the bumper will look a tad cleaner without them.

The white car is an automatic, so makes sense that only autos could have the sensors.

I've asked the question and will let you know if I hear back.
 
The specification I downloaded said that the parking sensors are standard on the manual as well. I intend to hold them to that
 
Shame and a strange thing to have different bumpers and tech on a manual v auto, I get with some of the tech maybe but parking sensors are pretty basic items. A camera is useful when its clean and you have enough light to see at night. But winter + grime on back of car (+night) = camera will be useless. Have to carry a little cloth around to hop out and clean it before parking! :cautious:

I specifically asked Toyota UK in an email about parking sensors, as it says in the specification on the website says that they are standard, but the online brochure says they aren't (conflicting information like this annoys me so I felt the need to ask for clarification). They replied saying that they are dealer fitted option, and to speak the dealer about getting them fitted (I won't be).
My guess is that they're standard on the auto.

Only speaking from personal experience. My Fabia vRS from new had sensors and one was always temperamental. They changed it but every time it was wet, one at random would fail and work again when dry. On my current Octavia vRS, about 4yrs ago they started being the same but on that when one fails the whole system fails. Still like that today and randomly they start working again but briefly.

There's no way I'm getting sensors fitted but the dealer. They aren't even fitting my spoiler.

I'd be in that camp too but don't want them at all really. Now I've retrained my brain to not listen for the beep on the Yaris I'm totally fine with just a camera and a better looking bumper.

Same. I have no need of them. the vRS is a bigger car and it's not been an issue. The thought of letting a dealer fit them makes me feel sick so I'd never have them

Thanks for confirming. It would have been nice to have on the manual, but can live with the rear camera.

Water was the achilles heel of my parking sensors. I had a car that was the same, if I washed the car they would stop working for weeks and then work a bit unless it rained. Eventually they stopped working altogether wet or dry.
 
GT86 sensors were very reliable. Only caveat they come with is they stop working when it is pouring down.
Toyota Garages were able to fit one for you 10 years ago. I hope manual owners can get them fitted if they want them.

I did get told that it could be something they can add by the dealer but he needed to check with their mechanic first.
 
If you really want them you are probably better off getting a DIY kit that has sensors hidden behind the bumper, dunno how good they are though, DYOR.
 
I am getting the auto but wanted to let all know Toyota sensors used to be reliable
Let’s see how they behave on the new car
 
We, auto owners can update you guys once we get our cars in December if the system is worth upgrading to etc
