agree, but it's frustrating that dealers are giving out different info. If they don't know then fine but i personally don't think they should be speculating on release dates. Seems to be pointing to a Nov release date. The website, emails now been sent, dealer info. Then another says oh 'might be dec' . (But yes it could be feasible this is on another ship i guess)

I hope so, but this is exactly why I was frustrated earlier this week...there hasn't been an official update. My dealer told me November 16th, as I guess did yours....but since then, Toyota UK have told me in an email that they do not have any confirmed dates. So where did the dealer get the 16th from?

Granted we've had the email to check payment/plates/part ex details. But I would just like a universal, official update to knock speculation on the head.

Absolutely! Has anyone else spoke to Toyota (not a dealer)?
 
Two monarchs, three prime ministers and four chancellors since my GR86 arrived in the UK 🙁

My dealer reckons he's getting an update from Toyota tomorrow. Not sure whether that's about my car or the Tory leadership election.

Strong and stable.

Hopefully the update will be about test drives or something. If the UK press cars are on the road, then surely that's an indicator that there shouldn't be any further regulatory delays.

Can totally understand the frustration, the dealers in this whole debacle are on the same playing field as us unfortunately, but they do have internal systems which we aren't privy to. They did pick up the original delays early on (but like us were kept in the dark as to why), they have been more consistent so I'm relying on them for info now.

There is some degree of sympathy for the dealer network, they get pushed aside, Toyota online take all the orders, keep everyone in the dark including those in their own organisation, get all the customers wound right up then fire them back to the dealers to finish it all off.

Absolutely. It's not excusable, but I can see why some dealers really aren't engaging with their customers having been cut out of the loop. I consider myself lucky to have had a call with them sharing the delivery estimate they'd been given.
 
The info was hidden and was only available via VIN to the parts guy seemingly from yesterday when I ordered the ducktail. The sales guys are like NPCs at this point. You ask them and it's almost word for word the same response of contact Toyota GB for more info.
 
well i've just called Toyota Preston for the first time since about 3 months ago. He said email order details and he will check with the manager.. i think we know the answer don't we..

There’s a chance you’ll get a test drive in a demonstrator at your nearest GR Centre by mid-November (these cars are getting priority for the ECU re-flash), but you won’t get your car before the end of the month or early December. You can ignore any dealer telling you about mid-November deliveries to their dealership - they are not lying to you, but their internal system does not reflect the current timeframes.

This will depend on when your car came in to Derby and when they can fill a transporter heading in your direction (with any Toyotas, not just GR86s), plus time doing the PDI and any prep work at your handover dealership.

Add in time taken to get any part-ex assessed and agreed, as well as clearing any finance and other applicable paperwork, and I’d say any of us will be lucky to have a car this year.

Interestingly, my dealer (Cardiff) said that cars coming to this part of the world may skip the Derby step altogether as it makes more sense to send them straight to dealers and have the PDI done there instead of trekking them up and down England.

Edit: although not sure how this would play out with the ECU change that is needed. Would assume dealers have access but who knows.

Careful now, you've made the grave error of assuming Toyota will do something that 'makes sense' here.

Well they have also said it's looking like Nov. (But take this with a massive handful of salt..) . Also looking to get spoiler quote and fitting for me. I was going to tell them what's been quoted from here but quickly stopped as i thought if they know they might raise the price!!
