GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

I caved in and had to write to toyota with this bit :
Ohh I had a different response 😀

Thanks for your email enquiry and your for your patience throughout, I would like to confirm that we are indeed here but not in the same place as your GR86. I appreciate your feedback on the matter and do understand your frustrations regarding additional communication of vehicle delivery.

I personally don't have any commentary on the RTV sealant as I'm far from technical, may I ask where this information has come from so I can look into it? It would also be difficult to answer your question around the engine blowing up as this would likely depend on how the car has been driven. The GR86 will come with Toyota's 3 year manufacturers warranty however this is not extended to track use.

I do hope this has helped and please do let us know if there is anything else I can try to assist with.

Mine has been in build for about 2 weeks, but today the status has changed to Left the Factory.

"estimatedDeliveryToFinalDestination": "2022-10-04" showing in developer tools (was 14th during In Bulid phase).

My order was confirmed at 10:07. Sapphire blue, manual.

Out of frustration I decided to telephone Toyota GB this afternoon to see what the latest was. I spoke to a very nice person who was open and candid however I didn't glean anything more than what others have already reported on. Namely, "given some unique European conditions, such as a specific environment and usage, the vehicles are subject to a change to accommodate to these conditions". Apparently this work has not yet commenced but the hope is that it will have been completed by October this year. Note that that is 'hope' not a certainty.

The staff at Toyota Online are clearly frustrated by all of this too, however they have not been told anything more about the problem and nor have they been authorised to send out any communication on the matter, although they are allowed to speak to customers should they telephone. The person did encourage me to email in to complain and felt that the more who did would perhaps help to drive some change in Toyota's approach. Would it be possible to do something collectively from this forum?

It would be interesting to see if a collective 'template' was put together and then emailed to Toyota all on the same day from all of our individuals email accounts asking for an update with the same concerns and questions asking for a clear update how Toyota would respond.

Because if they chose not to respond to almost 200 collective emails asking for an update on the same thing, on the same day or gave some blank corporate response how that would look in the press and on social media.

I'm really struggling to think what is so unique about "European conditions" that means that further rectification work is required. The only thing I can think of is ISA gubbins, but it's already been established that it's not that (as it's incorporating that which is the reason for the car not being sold past 2024).

I remember someone mentioning GPF?

And then mentioning 3 parts that needed replacing, sounds like the most convincing explainanation so far.

I know! The only thing I can think of is that the cars, as manufactured, don't actually meet the European environmental standards (CO2 etc) that it was supposedly homologated with.

I would be happy to be part of that. I've still not had my welcome call, I was going to complain to them tomorrow as a matter of course.

Have emailed Toyota and will let you know if I get a considered response to my complaint. I did point out that there were potentially 200 customers on this forum who were equally unhappy. I think everyone should just ping an email straight to [email protected] and the staff at Toyota Online will be very happy to pass it up the chain of command.

That was my only thought as well. Someone posted a user manual or tech doc somewhere that listed different exhausts depending on whether gpf was fitted or not in that market. Maybe they stuck the wrong exhausts on them

Funnily enough I sent Toyota Online an email this morning basically voicing my disappointment and concerns. I've been listening out for a reply from them but nothing yet..

Probably put the steering wheel on the wrong side for the UK cars :ROFLMAO:

Toyota build hundreds of thousands of cars for the U.K./European markets this problem won’t be some simple oversight of a regulation it will be fundamental manufacturing faults with components that are sub standard. A bit like the wheels that can fall off the new electric Toyota. During the industry crisis they will have been sourcing components from new suppliers and I guess some stuff is just not up to specification. It’s a worry buying any new car at present just how good are some of the parts.
