GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Ultimately the truth will eventually leak out as to what is causing the delay, so Toyota if you are reading this it would be much better if you come clean now.

Mistakes/problems happen, most reasonable people can accept that, but you will lose goodwill if you try and hide problems and treat people like fools.

Good point though

Guys please calm down. I am pretty sure that the sealant issue is not the reason for the delivery delays and only a marginal amount of engines, if any, will feel any impact.

The strainer in the intake manifold on the FA24 engine is built in a way that it is open on several sides. It will hardly be possible that so much sealant end up there, that the oil pressure really falls below the manufacturer's specifications.

It's down to a crap dealer. I'm always wary of them but always know if I'm not happy with something to go direct to Toyota GB. Similar but different was with Ford where my local dealer don't do test drives as they don't want to register anything new for that and they "sell themselves". I moaned on Twitter, Ford GB saw it and got a drive in another dealer.

But it does, hence the failures and why there are concerns. If it didn't nobody would be inclined to check or be any wiser that the problem exists.

From what I've seen from the failures so far, it affects cars which are tracked/autocrossed, therefore see high RPM use, it appears that under regular driving and low rpms oil pressure can be maintained without an issue through the other 4 sides of the strainer.

My car is finished and if I get it right also already on its way to Belgium :)
Any ideas how I can identify the vessel?

No, but looking under the same nodes in my tools, it looks like the ETA to Portbury is 4th September.
Won't regard any date as set in stone, but good to see some positive movement.

My 10:04 car has finally gone into build, no ETA change though, still showing 26/10.
Strange that your car should be such a late build given it was a 10:04 order. Mine was the same time, as others were, and they went into build in May. Maybe the reason Toyota are also holding cars back until October is due to a mess up of their 'first come, first served' policy of ordering cars.

I was 10.04 and went into build only last week, then left the factory yesterday. Its all a bit random.

Their entire ordering process is bizarre when it comes to timings.

I got my welcome call on 26/04 but they didn't ask my for my 2nd ID until 11/05 (which they only acknowledged receiving in an email on 23/06...) and the order didn't update to Processing on the app until 12/05.

I guess the only consolation is that my suffering is dwarfed by the experience of our fellow Rogues lol

I did wonder if the ID late entry would delay those that got orders in quickly.

I was a 10:07 confirmation, but didn’t upload my ID until around 16:00 that day.

The request for second ID was mid May, but I was away and didn’t send them it until towards the end of May.

Makes me wonder if that’s why mine has only just gone into build, with an ETA of 19th October…

I'm fairly sure I uploaded my first ID proof within minutes, so it wouldn't have any bearing on the ordering process.

But it was weird seeing other people being prompted for the 2nd ID way before me, so what do I know.

On another note, you're a later order than me with an earlier ETA, so that also doesn't allign with it.

After a quite exhausting investigation I am 100% sure I have found my vessel. It must be the ZEUS LEADER 🚢
Why I am so sure? Well, I have checked all 1055 vehicle carriers that are known to this site and this vessel is the only one that was in Nagoya at the relevant time frame and is heading towards Singapore now. The median for this route also fits the ETA on Toyotas website.

Saw this Autocar article earlier today, which at least hopefully confirms no ISA on the GR86. The delays must be due to something else.

This retrofitting is what will kill off the Toyota GR86. The camera needed for intelligent speed assistance (ISA) and emergency lane-keeping system (ELKS) can’t easily be built into the car’s architecture, which was carried over from the Toyota GT86, designed more than a decade ago.

“We would have to raise the roof and move the windscreen to accommodate the camera,” said Toyota, which announced the GR86’s short European-market lifespan of just two years at its launch.
