GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Nah, they are building those last to give you longer to change your mind !

(Ducks behind sofa in case @AndyRC comes
Just heard all cars that have arrived in U.K. have an auto gearbox by mistake and they are trying to work out if they can now retrofit the manual as the manual is not homologated for the extra electronics that come with the auto !

Having worked for a ”Big Corporate” a direct communication to the CEO will usually get a response but this is how it generally works :

1. It may be hard to believe, but the CEOs are Incredibly busy people, usually dealing with the “big picture” rather than minutiae

Like this ”stuff”

2. They will have a big email inbox , usually managed by a very efficient PA
3. A lot of stuff will get filtered out and sent lower down the tree for a response to be drafted
4. Eventually comes back up the tree (saying s little as possible) for PA to check before going to CEO
5. CEO may actually read it before allowing their name to go on it .
6. At least you have an official response from the CEO 👍

I may be wrong and the Toyota U.K. CEO may manage every email he receives himself , if he does he‘s not going to be doing not much else other than respond to GR86 rants now we’ve got his email address , Fire at will Zoo Company 😂

You guys have every reason to feel unhappy with the GR86 saga, but please exclude any references to this forum when contacting Toyota GB with your official complaints.

Yes it's been a shambles and yes you guys all talk to each other on here, but please don't drag GR-Zoo into your complaints.

Chris

@GR-Admin It’s a fair point 👍

No “class action” Zoo Company , make sure any correspondence is on your own behalf , your lawyer may need it at some point in the future 😉

@AndyRC Let's be honest not getting a response from the MD is no different to calling the sales team and getting nowhere. Lol
@Mick I‘d be very surprised if you send a legitimate complaint to any CEO of a U.K. listed company if you didn’t get any response at all, you may not like what you get back, but you will usually get something, at some point.

As a point of interest I’d put todays 🍺🍺🍺 money on Augustin Martin probably only knowing the rip roaring success the GR86 online sales approach was as they “sold out in 90 minutes” , no one likes telling the CEO they 🤬 up 🤷‍♂️

PS I’ll bet a years 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 money (which is quite a bit) that he doesn’t know about the GR86 Early Bird offering 🤔

Hurray!! It has landed in the country (apparently)

So it goes to "In Transit" when it arrives in the UK? I assumed the "In Transit" stage would start once it was loaded onto a vessel.

Great to see some progress, especially as you've chosen the best colour ;-)
Not that I'm in a rush to get mine earlier (having just had a puncture on my GR Supra, I want at least a few months use out of the tyre I've had to buy, as they cost a fortune), but my 10:14 confirmed order (I notice your signature says 10:17) is still at "Build In Progress", and the hidden ETA is November, so I'm still not convinced that these are going through the process in any sort of strict time order. Hopefully Toyota will suddenly decide to release some cars to customers rather than holding on to them until September/October as they've been saying to people who've managed to get some sort of communication off them.

It seems that way, yes.
Mine has been sat at “left the factory” for a couple of weeks and was still in Japan on the map. Now the map shows that it’s in the UK so I assume “in transit” means it’s here.

Oh! That's nice. Mine is currently "Left the Factory", has been for just over a week. So I assumed it was still sitting in Japan waiting to be loaded. Hopefully it is already wending it's way here.

I'll have to trawl back though this and other threads because I'm sure people were quite accurately tracking the vessels their cars were on.

My Sapphire Blue, manual was confirmed @10:07, so before both of you. Yet only last week did its status change to Left The Factory. The "estimatedDeliveryToFinalDestination" is currently showing 4th October. There is clearly some leeway in the Toyota order fulfilment system - it is not strictly, first ordered ... first built/shipped/transit/delivered.

Mine is showing 14th October on the dev tools (I think, I’ll double check when I’m home) which is technically later. Maybe the MyT app is just a placebo to make us feel better?

There does seem to be a few that show the 14th October too so maybe that’s just a holding date that they’re sticking in?

Edit: just checked and it’s the 17th October

I'm guessing there's an algorithm somewhere, based on the build slot etc. My ETD is 17th October. I'm hoping that's accurate.
I have to admit, I was kind of losing interest while my order was "Processing". I assumed that the car might not even be with me until next year. But now that it's been built, I can see the VIN, and I have an estimated date, I am getting pretty excited.

The last couple of years have flown by, what with Covid upending the world....but I sense that the next ~9 weeks are going to absolutely crawl :D

mine says left the factory which i think is on the boat as you also should have your VIN (which can be added to myT). Delivery date on network hack has come in from wk nov to wk1 oct which I cant believe.

Tried that, back in June-

No answer ☹️

Gentleman

Imagine my excitement at 10:40 on April 20th when my order was confirmed.

And then absolutely nothing from Toyota UK about progressing of order.

I understand-
That is was a sell out.
That you system and small team are struggling.
That the sales demand was too much for you to cope with.
That the world has supple chain issues.

However, its extremely disappointing that Toyota UK have, as yet, not made it clear to many of the people that have ordered this car when orders will be moved forward.

The only Toyota advice has been a glib email from the marketing team saying wait up to 12 week before Toyota action orders. I’ve talked and mailed customer service, who basically seem to be under orders to not divulge any information.

Lets put this in your (metaphorical) laps.

How would you feel 9 weeks in from order placement, that nothing of note has been communicated back to the customer base?
Its slap dash, shoddy and is starting to ruin the joy of buying a (hopefully) wonderful new car.

I get an ‘under the skin’ feeling that something has gone on between Toyota UK and Toyota Japan, it is obvious that your marketing suggestion of cars being in owner hands in July is farcical. Maybe selling 400 cars in 90 minutes, £12m odd bent the system.

I note that Robin Giles is director of customer service, and doesn’t appear bothered about hanging out 400+ customers, when all we want is information on progress and anticipated delivery.

I note that Stuart Sanders is director of communications and product, but doesn’t seem to like to communicate.

We all have things that need to be organised prior to the cars arriving. Simple stuff like arranging the payment, and selling the existing car.

Overall I am extremely disappointed that Toyota are failing its GR86 customers by not communicating on a regular frequency, and by not being transparent with the process from deposit onward. I am not alone, the web (car forums) are full of bemused deposit paid, GR86 customers.

Could I suggest you have a product meeting and engage more with your GR86 customer order base.

Its not an issue that cars may not arrive until winter 22, it is an issue that after 9 weeks you still haven’t got your act together to clarify the order timing with each individual.

Plain and simple, you appear to have shown little efforts, and have foregone the professional service and courtesy a customer would expect, when spending over £30k on one of your products.

If the problem is that Toyota Japan have stalled the UK production slots, say so. Just be transparent and honest. Clarity is key.

Nice effort, kudos. Hope you won't get an automated or scripted response.
EDIT

I just realized I missed that you wrote you didn't get one, sorry.!
