Just checked and I am in the same situation, eta switched this morning. After being delivered 122 years ago for a few days I'm now on 13th October in dev tools. 10:06 order I think. Still nowt official from either Toyota or their dealer informing me of the delay, I'd be completely in the dark without this forum.
At that point they'll just call it "patina" and will charge us extra for it!I am wondering what 122 years of paint discolouration will look like ...
It's Toyota, it'll be pearlescent patina! At that point they'll just call it "patina" and will charge us extra for it!
From the looks of it all the 'batch 1' cars are now looking like 17/10 for release. It must be some sort of homologation or parts retro fit that gives a date so far in the future but also bunching them all together? Are we getting to a place where we can update this list on page 1 or still a right old mess?
Same, didnt get any notifications from the app on these changes just jumped from processing to left the factory to in Portbury in the space of 3 days. The dev code also updated from no info a week ago, to left factory end of June and Portbury 30/7.Mine changed to Build In Progress when I’ve just checked it in the MyT app this morning. Not got access to a laptop to check the dev tools at the moment to see if the ETA has changed. No notification from the app or email yet, so I guess the notification can’t be relied on.
Why such a long wait since the car is already in the country
There's a 7 page discussion on the reasons here: https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/why-aren’t-gr86’s-being-delivered.1770/
...but to summarise, no one knows and people have provided all kinds of reasons:
To align with an EU wide release date
To fix / add / modify certain components required by EU legislation
For UK configuration of some electronics bobbins
To fit missing components like parking sensors that were on the spec sheet but not on the UK press cars
To fix engine problems that are cropping up in other countries before release here (https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/engine-failure.1702/page-2#post-28053)
...and probaby loads of others I've forgotton about already.
The voicemail I got from Toyota said the cars need to go through customs (mine is still at portbury), regulatory checks (as its a new model) and emissions checks. That to me sounds like they've not been homologated or waiting for a wider EU sign off which is also possible and not a quick process. The press cars/show cars were pre prod do didnt go through these processes. My estimated date seems to have now changed from 1900-01-01 to 2022-10-13.

It would be highly unlikely a manufacturer would build new cars for customers without homologation approval. No there is an issue somewhere and that’s all a smokescreen. Makes me more suspicious that they just can’t tell the truth and take customers as idiots. The voicemail I got from Toyota said the cars need to go through customs (mine is still at portbury), regulatory checks (as its a new model) and emissions checks. I wish they had actually communicated the decision to delay as soon as it was decided, it was likely made in June. That's about 4 months worth of interest for some or maybe even some market gains. Honestly I decided not to put the money in the market in early July because of the prospect of having an August delivery.I wish they would be honest and say, I’m likely to delay mine on purpose now and watch what happens with this RTV issue.
