Select the "Apps" hard button and then "Android Auto". Still two button presses rather than one (would be nice if "Apps" just took you straight to AA if you only have one phoned connected), but still easier than going via the phone menu...and being an actual button, it's easier to hit "Apps" with muscle memory.

I agree, that seems like it would be such an easy thing to do via the software.

Personally, I have created an Android Auto button on my home screen, so I select Home, then AA. That makes the Apps button redundant for me.

Earlier today I made a comment in the confessions thread that I thought the stereo in our cars was pretty good sounding for a standard system. Whilst it doesn't have anywhere near the bass or power of my previous F-Type (with Meridian Surround System) I find our cars have a far more pleasing...

As long as @PVGR doesn't mind me complaining re the higher-than-ideal seating position.. just a brown patch in the otherwise green green..
 
Only today I found out how to get to the different info screens on the dash đŸ™„ who would have thought that you have to press up/down to discover different options.
But then again, I’ve only done 95 miles before driving off today (now at 230).

Some really cool options hiding in these menus too.
 
This weekend I took the 86 out for its first 'just for a drive' on Sunday morning before cockwombles started getting in the way!
Still keeping it under 4k but dry roads and relatively warm you can really 'feel' the car, the back did step out on a tight roundabout but it was very natural and easy to catch instinctively.
Oh and the real confession is - I didnt wash it this weekend and its not clean!!

Thanks for this, i'll give it a try, Im struggling to find the sweet spot for bass and voice, kind of always get a too much of one or the other.

Yes and it winds me up! Mine seems to come from the right top corner of the dash, but also the door speaker. Even get an annoying creak on bumpy roads from the same place on the dash. When it goes in for the rear parking sensors Ive asked the to sort it out. I doubt they will of course but its not acceptable and Im one of those people who cant not hear/ignore it!

Apart from my own car and the one I test drove back in November, I haven't seen another GR86 in the flesh. Even GT86s are a rare sight - I've maybe seen 4 driving or parked.

A mate of mine took a photo of one parked in his road but after looking at his photo I realised it was the same car I test drove!

Agree - for the 'sunday morning drive' you feel part of the car and can feel/hear the road surface changes, I dont want to compare it too closely to an early Lotus Evora but if it had that magic Lotus damping it could be from the same ethos. It even has some rattles like a Lotus (which are winding me up!)
For the motorway schlep on course tarmac its just noisy :ROFLMAO: but then we get so used to the insulation and comfort of a modern car, then complain they're too heavy and automated.

I feel the same.. if anything I'd have liked the car to be a bit more raw.
Part of the reason I prefer the active sound over complete lack of it.. which btw is not artificial - as I understand it's simply car's engine noise piped in through the speakers - so that it can be controlled on higher speeds. Else it would be even noisier on motorway speeds, putting off more people.

There was some chat about the headlights back in January about the beam height so I thought I would compare them to my MINI which has projector xenons and there is no difference in beam height. The MINI passed an MOT a couple of months ago and there was no mention of the lights being badly adjusted so assume they are spot on. I have an MX5 with projector LED's with similar cornering function to the 86 that I will compare it against when it comes off SORN.

Nice comparison thanks, I find the 86s headlights pretty good overall, being low down you dont get the 'view' of the road and headlights like in an SUV, but the colour and brightness seems good to me. One car I always note has very bright headlights when coming towards you I find are the newest Mini's!
