GR86 GR86- Cars for sale - General Discussion

I'll come clean, this is mine: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202212282803638

I'm not sure if I want to keep it or sell it, which is why it's up for more than the others as I'm trying to gauge interest.
I've been meaning to post it on here and my reasons for considering selling, but haven't had chance yet as I'm too busy to write everything out at the moment.
For the sake of 3-4k I’d probably keep it, values might rise in the future too.. or take the money and run incase they drop 😂 I’m not much help I know!

Just drop it to 33k and it’ll sell today…..
You say that but I’ve not had an offer greater than 31k. If several have sold at 33k or there abouts potential pool of buyers has now reduced considering the time of year, etc.

Geography etc will also play a factor.

It’s insured and parked up safe so I’m happy to hold out

@LU71KEE , is it dealers who are making those offers ?

Are you looking to buy back in?
No, but I’ve noticed that the most keenly priced cars are the ones selling. It’s a waste of money sticking one on AT for 3-4K more than another identical car.

it’s an odd market, more cars might appear for sale or supply be increased, equally supply might be complete and with spring perhaps demand higher.

difficult to call.

Best off waiting for 2032 😉

There seemed to be more of a frenzy around the GRY on launch, appeals to a wider audience too.

It’s weird that they’ve held so well because despite the massive hype you could order one for ages and test drive it first. There’s 3600 circuit pack cars and an equal amount of convenience and standard cars at 150 units each. I see loads about and as said above a fair few for sale but prices still holding strong, hopefully the bubble bursts for the car market in general soon.

The GRY had the benefit of being brought to market as people were getting out a bit more after Covid. Lockdown may have had an impact on people's desires to spend and get out to drive. The car therefore got a lot of rave reviews and it has maintained momentum somewhat. Though there seem to be a truck load of them for sale all the time but this suggests to me a lot of owners move on quickly and this was up until autumn this year supported by supply constraints, buyand used car prices and affordable financing. The GR86 by contrast was launched in a different climate and where the resale/flip is much trickier. Even most mundane cars had used premiums for a while during the back end of lockdown.

That being said, hot hatches have historically had a better following in the UK and the original 86 never sold in numbers either so it's a bit tricky to compare these cars.

Aye, the £35,495 one. I make it that 3 or 4 have been posted and then sold/withdrawn... so they are moving, but maybe not flying off the shelves.
This was my BIL's car.

He got bored of waiting for the GR which was obviously delayed and bought a 981 Cayman GTS instead..decided he prefers the Porsche overall (he's on his third Cayman so no surprise I guess 😂)

I was thinking (I do occasionally 😆) with supply chain woes most desirable motors are at premium to RRP.

As an example you can wait 15 months for an RS3, or pay 10% over list and pick one up in weeks.

So selling a GR86 is in the region of £34k, which is the same premium over list as any desirable new car at the moment.

To be fair, i had a dealer offer me a RS3 at list but thought it too expensive, I took a Jimny at list last year and a Defender 90 - both supposedly difficult and rocking horse poo rare in the case of the Suzuki. Just about right place at right time etc.

All of them bought to flip?

That's a shame, I got the impression you were really enthusiastic about the car...are the reasons because it wasn't what you expected? Would be interested to know if that's the case.

Not intentionally. Wanted Suzuki since released but sold as if went as anything above 65mph it was torture, D90 expected to be better but wife hated it , for such a big car the tiny boot and inability to remove or fold seats flat is just daft. Both went for a fair bit more.

Ive had many cars and lost on almost all over last 20 years. Pandemic has been odd I sold my McLaren, SL and Mustang GT at the end of the first lockdown for 10-20% more than I’d bought each for used from main dealers…..
