USDM GR Corolla g16e-gts only call for API SP ILSAC gf-6a ... someone said that earlier yaris were spec'd to use ILSAC GF-6B before... as in 0w16! is that true?

also do you guys put LT (non-LSD) gear oil in the transfer but LX (LSD) gear oil in the diff? I usually use redline but amsoil also specs transfer and diff as the same fluid for their off the shelf stuff. thanks

Tme are now listing 0w-16 for the gr Yaris along with 0w-20 don't know the exact sub spec as couldn't make it out from where I was sitting when they showed me the listing for it but I'd certainly keep to 0w-20 on the corolla as if the engine was able for it also they would have listed it off the bat.

I used LX in both although I know it isn’t necessary for the transfer, neither can I see it doing harm.

In Europe, they put GR Supra oil in my MK2, saying it's the only one they give... I looked and it has API SP specifications... but it's not GF6A... could it be that harmful? I read that SP protects against LSPI.

Wrong oil I believe.

Dealers here use the Toyota 0W20 AFES (08880-83590 - out of the 208L drums)

API SP with Resource Conserving matches ILSAC GF-6A by combining API SP performance with improved fuel economy, emission control system protection and protection of engines operating on ethanol-containing fuels up to E85.

Mine will be without catalytic converters, I don't have e85 and I don't care about saving fuel... so is API SP ok? 😂

I don't know... in my opinion it's not 100% his... but it's superior to the one used on mk1 which was API SN+... that's why I doubt it could work anyway... if not a Pakelo?
