GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Not sure how those WRC drive modes are set up, not the most self explanatory way of saying how they work. Sounds a bit more of a marketing stunt.
Here locally mk2 hasn't created any price drop nor sales push for mk1, actually on the contrary. only three on sale here. Maybe it get's validated when actual pricing & availability appear but at the moment not much worried.

Maybe it is more of creating more accessible and easier path for generic public for GR feeling. GR Yaris seems to appear in many places now so Toyota is really pushing the new model to the market. Lovely approach as such, quite different what seems nowadays common for other 'normal' brands.

He seems to think they will still be under the £40k mark. But time will tell.

I wish!

Realistically, I think Toyota GB will strive to offer a basic version below £40k. This could be a manual with no forged wheels, etc. (it may even be without any wheels at all, if they can get away with it).

I can easily see Auto being offered as a "full extra" option only, with any creature comforts they can offer and for over £40m.

Having to pay a premium for the "nice" colour options which may be as much as it would cost to have the car painted in the first place doesn't help either.

I agree. I have a 72 plate GRY in pearl white and the RRP of that was around £36k.

I also had a GR86 and they increased in RRP by £2500 between the two batches. The auto option was roughly £2k extra too.

Add in inflation, the cost associated with the additional ‘upgrades’ and I would be very surprised if they come in under £40k. We may be surprised though.

And the fact that TMC now know quite a few GRY buyers have very deep pockets. I would kinda be a nice acknowledgement for first movers if the mk2 wasn't too cheap.... Because in the big picture, 40k would be cheap today, what else interesting is there at such a price point that is even remotely similar? If that's the i20n for you, you should get that, but it's not the same...

Tbh I don't think there is anything quite like the GR Yaris at any price point, but then that's why I bought one.

Weren't the GRMNs close to 60k? They aren't as quick and potentially not as limited in numbers either.

As great as the i20N is I don’t think there is anything else out there that comes close to the GRY. I guess a lot of us are questioning whether the Mk2 is enough of an upgrade…. Unless you really want an auto. But the price and finance package will determine that for me, and many others I assume.

Trollhättan.

I just asked to try to get some more information about it, I will receive my mk1 Saturday, no plans to get the Mk2.

Where did you saw the post? The website is still with the old information

But it is like OneHp said, they don't plan to bring it, until they do...

Edit:Just saw the post on Instagram. Maybe they told me that because of the online orders

Kul en till i Trollhättan🤯

I thought I was the only idiot in my town 🤩🤩

I'm very interested in what the actual UK spec car will be. Will it have all the nice bits (blind spot monitors, HUD, heated seats, parking sensors) like the JDM car, or Will Toyota GB strip it out like the mki?? Time will tell ....

I was really on the fence about selling my '23 and buying the Gen2. Now I'm hearing that the Gen2 is filled with "net nanny" garbage...at least in the JDM market. Not sure if this has been discussed her (not going through 50+pages ;)), but what's up with the "circuit mode?"

Antilag, turns off the speed limiter, and probably a host of smaller things. However, it's only able to turn on if you're at a track (GPS), and you have a current T-Connect subscription...and only available in Japan. Like a Play Station rocket ship. No thanks.

My car has the GRMN engine calibration for 390nm (same hp), available here in Japan.

Happy I got the late Gen1. 300hp is a couple of bolt-ons.

I had to laugh so hard when some people in Europe were so happy when they heard the word AntiLag. It was clear to me that it would never come. But not in Japan either? Sad.

For me there is far too much bullshit on board. From the GR Yaris to a BMW/Audi standard soup. From a driving machine to a "make it right for everyone electronic waste car" steering wheel softer/harder/agile, throttle response +++. Digital speedometer, bling bling and many flashes🤣.

The main thing is that it appeals to the general public.

Sorry, I just lost it...But I'll never get over the digital speedometer😅🫣.

But I'm just one person with an opinion. Absolutely not representative. I would also swap my seats for "non-heated" ones and have killed my steering wheel heating purely on purpose. ----> Absolutely crazy.

Isn't that limited to Japan? The GT-R had similar things that could only be turned off in Japan on a track, but outside Japan they could be deactivated anywhere (I think that's right anyway).

A few weeks now since the launch of the MK2 in the press and a lot of excitement with it. I now wonder when everyone has had time to think about it what would happen in this scenario:
Last day in August you could buy and drive away the last MK1 CP in your chosen colour and then mod it a little or
First day in September pay possibly an extra £5k and pick up and drive away a MK2 standard or much more with the extras.
I suspect the serious track drivers will go with the MK2 but possibly people like myself who use it for road fun drives would stick with the MK1.
Those with an immaculate MK1 would be facing possibly a £15k bill to swap and I still don't know if MK2 will be homologation as that makes a difference.
