GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Also looks like there is inductive charging now.
That + Wireless Android Auto in an integrated Package could definitely get me to upgrade to that newer Headunit (only if I can keep my analogue Gauge cluster though).

The GR Corolla has the inductive charging pad and wireless android auto/carplay too.

Of the relatively few things that annoy me about the car most of them revolve around that... the lack of inductive charging, only one usb port, having to plug in a cable.. the other being no memory of the car settings.

What can I say. The interior upgrades are at least 5 years late - for the normal versions. But for a rally car (for the road) I like how it is, already saturated by my all-digital other car....

I get that, I'd like to keep the analogue Gauges! But the touchscreen doesn't seem to take up more real estate than the stock item and the inductive charging would be a nice add-in that wouldn't add more than 200g of extra weight..
In my opinion weight should be saved by changing the brake discs, lightening the flywheel etc. :D

Wireless charging is awful in cars as the usual warming it causes is almost always exacerbated by being next to other electronics, a transmission tunnel etc., meaning the phone heats up to an unacceptable degree.

Very bad for battery life. I’ve had them on quite a few cars and only ever used them in an emergency after a cable fault etc.

Keep them well away from the GR!

Hope you've got fast charging deactivated on your phone as well as never letting it go above ~80% and never below ~20% cause that would be very bad for battery life also :)

I get your point but I'm not going to needlessly worry about a bit more wear and tear on a phone battery that can be changed for 80€.

Any decent phone manages this for you nowadays anyway. Just plug it in when you can and it will judge the charging current based on usage/charging patterns, fast when it needs it, trickling to top off if required. It's no longer necessary to micro-manage that.

It would be a no from me if it does actually happen. The original GRY does what I want. It is my track toy and daily for whatever I want to do. I was lucky enough to get it at the bargain basement intro price here in Oz of $40k on the road. I have added coilovers and lsds and inlet and exhaust and about the only thing that interests me is a few more kW. And even if the new one comes out with the 221kW Corolla engine I can get that quite easily without the price tag that a changeover would involve. Used prices here are still pretty decent for sellers but that would change with a lot hitting the market for those wanting the newist thing. I am guessing a minimum of $60k and then I would be lucky to see $35k for mine. I know I could swap out the suspension and wheels and inlet and exhaust back to stock and have that available for the new model but $25k brings a lot of options.

That was mental the non Rallye was essentially £21k in UK prices!

To get enough on the road to rally here and NZ Toyota Oz was afraid they wouldn't sell enough quickly enough so the price was $39,950 driveaway. They didnt think it would be popular because it was too niche. You had to place a deposit before the car was even released but they sold the allocation very quickly. The next allocation was $45k from memory. No deals on the Rallye. No deals after that.

What're the chances the UK gets the Mk2 Yaris if we didn't get the Corolla?

I asked the dealer that supplied my Yaris
