GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

hi, i understand that you have a subscription... can you tell me where the liquid temperature sensor is? because even today i turned off the car, after 3 minutes i turned on the dashboard and it showed 111 degrees... in my opinion is it too much or not?!
89422A - Coolant temp sensor

As others have said - it's most likely heat soak, not a bad temp sensor.

Coolant temperature and the temperature of some engine components can be very different. Parts like the cylinder head, exhaust manifold, turbo, and cat are much hotter than the coolant. When you stop the coolant flow and airflow under the bonnet, heat from those components starts soaking into the cooler engine parts and the coolant.

Just do a few more cool-down laps if you're on the circuit or drive with less load at the end of your journey or let the engine idle a longer before turning it off.

I think it's supposed to be that way. Once the car is turned off after a drive there's residual heat in the engine that is being transferred in the coolant which is not circulating anymore, so the coolant gets hotter for a short while.
Has anyone with a mk2 ever noticed this since they have the numbers? anyway yes I thought so too but I'm afraid it's doing something to the head gasket etc... also because my lap was slow yesterday... 50-60 km/h and short accelerations at 0.5 boost... I stopped when I had 94 degrees water temp... I left it at idle for 1 min and it didn't change temperature... so I turned it off...

My coolant temp once pinged to almost maximum after hot track day session. Got scared and have been idling or cooling down much more afterwards.
I read your post… but since on mk1 it's analog, do you know how to quantify in degrees?! but you were on the track… I wasn't

yes, I just wanted to understand if it could be bothered by the temperature of other components based on the position ... yesterday I was driving around town at low speeds and I always let it rest for 1 minute at idle ...

Does your radiator cooling fan come on?
Might be worth checking the connector is plugged in.

I'm talking about a car off that goes up to 110 degrees... with the car on at maximum it goes to 94 at minimum rpm, while I go 88-92... even if the outside temperature was 34 degrees... I think it works 😂 if it didn't work I think I would have overheating problems or not? yes the connector is attached

The fan turns on at 100deg.

fast speed? because when it was at 111 degrees I turned the engine back on at 107 degrees and for a few seconds I heard the fan fast in fact it immediately dropped to 91… instead the slow speed when does it turn on?

I haven’t noticed different fan speeds. But you can hear from inside at 100deg and higher when it’s running

honestly I was in the garage with the car, yes I felt it when it was going fast but not that much... do you mean when stationary or do you feel it while you're going?! anyway what temperatures did you reach and in what situations?

it was in max for a short period until starting the car it started to drop down.

Who knows more... the underbody of the aero kit, will it fit ours too? They say the front bumper is different but I haven't noticed any differences... the hood is nice but I don't understand if it's a completely open grille... the only thing that bothers me is that the new one has stronger bolts... let's hope it's not because they noticed any problems

No one knows other than Toyota.

It fits. A guy in Germany who has contacts to Toyota Dealerships confirmed it. Still a hefty price tag for some underbody plastics. :D

As said - they do fit. Though you’ll need to trim the end of your existing floor guards, and I believe one of the fixing studs is missing on the older GRY. It also runs close to the exhaust on the Mk1.

You can buy one for the Lexus LBX Morizo RR, they fit the GRY.

only 90 euros?! I don't know where I could find those pieces
