Funny, I actually drove one today during a nice cloud burst. I have no idea how it maintains that much grip, but that is a similar thing for the MK1. It just feels a tiny bit better.

The engine noise is better in the cabin, you can hear the turbo way more, the interior is in some ways nicer (seating position and visibility within is slightly improved) and in the flesh it is nicer than the pictures but also missed the analogue dials

One thing I did notice is that the front grille is now metal, not plastic though it still looks like an intercooler muncher to me.

I liked it but as an owner of a MK1 I'm not sure there would be any point, not for another 12 grand anyway

Got a phone call and email offering me to purchase the Gen 2 . Deposit is to be paid by midnight tomorrow and delivery expected before end of year.
I have decided to decline & stick with my Gen 1 for now. Hopefully no regrets.

If you’re on the waiting list already and you’d like a new one I’d suggest holding out. Having a new one also has a lot of perks, 1st owner, able to run it in as you desire, service it to your expectations etc. unfortunately it’s hard to find a second hand one specifically to your requirements if your fussy like me. Also you might just prefer all the new specs on the mk2. At present the price difference between a good second hand mk1 and a new mk2 isn’t huge if you want near new. It’s around £5-7k as the mk1 is very strong money so it’s easy to say if you already own one that the upgrade isn’t worth it however if a new mk1 isn’t an option a list price mk2 is definitely worth it, in my opinion. UK are getting more allocation, a few cancelled orders. I had a slot offered to me on new allocation for delivery in January last month but then someone cancelled in the same colour and trans so now getting it within a couple weeks so there’s definitely slots coming available.

Oh just to add to my little mini review, the safety system defo is different to the MK1. I noticed an audible chime. I have a feeling it was when the speed limit changed but it potentially may have been if I strayed over slightly. Possibly both.

Is the Mk2 as loud inside as the Mk1 at speed when on PS4S? You got no chance of hearing the chimes on my car at 60mph plus. I measured the internal db level on a crude iPhone app at 82db the other day.

Oh wow. Fair play, I’m assuming the demand isn’t high in Estonia?

I think one thing that forces the price of the UK ones up along with availability is the requirement for RHD. With all other countries around us being LHD makes it very hard to avoid the main dealer wait or heavily inflated prices.

I don't think it's any quieter, I could hear the turbo a bit more. Honestly it sounded quite like my MK1 with the exhaust and cold air feed changes, maybe slightly more pronounced turbo noise over mine.

I didn't pick up on the pings immediately, but it's that kinda low pinging you hear when someone presses the summon air crew button on a plane. The kind of pinging most people don't immediately notice, but having just gotten off a flight in the last few weeks where this system malfunctioned and went off every two seconds for nine hours I might be a bit sensitive to it.

I'll add whilst that pinging was annoying for me, a few people had the lights doing the same thing right above their seat. Poor gits.

I still haven't worked out if it was ISA nagging, or it was the speed limit changing or both, but I suspect it was ISA. I didn't really hammer it, nor try and turn off ISA (it's actually in T&C for the 'rental' you can't turn off safety features). I didn't feel any other activations though, but I wasn't exactly giving it super full beans (as mentioned, it was absolutely bucketing it down).

Pretty much exactly what I expected from the car, really enjoyed driving it. Not stopping me paying off my final payment on my MK1 in two weeks though.

Managed to secure a Rovanpera, but had to do so in Japan. I did try through the UK application process, but no luck, despite owning a Gen 1 Circuit Pack from new, and sourcing a further 11x Gen 1 Circuit Pack cars new for long term C-TEC Performance customers.

Very much looking forward to the Rovanpera. It's on the water and due to dock UK late November

Congratulations. Not sure what has happened to the UK special edition ones other than one is being used by an employee of Toyota/lexus at the moment.

Did you private purchase this in Japan or was it direct from Toyota?

I heard the same from a very reliable source, within the UK Toyota dealer network.
