But the auto was the one with better brakes and tires... the autobox shift like shit. That's exactly what I suspected from the beginning. Finally a test where no influencer was paid for 3 minutes of city traffic....Auto was also slower around lap for 1.5s. But I wouldn't take this test serious. One car has handbrake that doesn't work and he complains that tires are worn differently. I still wouldn't assume that automatic is faster in any meaningful way. I ordered automatic and I hope I won't be disappointed.
Why don't we get this choice!?! Cmon ToyotaI will do it anyways as soon as I get a car, but it will cost more than an option probably. I will put XPEL PPF on it.
I actually remember that the same Morizo, while speaking about the incoming auto gear, said that most of Japanese drivers have a driving license limited to automatic cars, and that he thought that with the DAT gear, many more drivers could finally taste sport driving (and make the whole of GRY project much more profitable, of course).Pretty sure I remember someone from Toyota citing making the car more accessible and an automatic transmission is a big part of that. Especially nowadays.
Don't see a problem with that. But then I never expected significant performance improvements.
I totally agree with you. You never know what you will happen to drive in a lifetime, and you have to be ready to manage a manual car sometimes, even if you won't to.Thats a good point. I have told my young great nephew he will be left my GRY or whatever I own when I go up to the great car dealership wating room in the sky - which means he will need to take a manual driving test. He will also need to do this if he wants to buy a vintage car one day.
Basically, not much difference.New Toyota GR Yaris DPL Press kit
Includes an interesting pdf specification comparing new with old...

also, they drove in expert mode vs ESP fully off, can clearly hear the ESP working at e.g. 23:01Auto was also slower around lap for 1.5s. But I wouldn't take this test serious. I had your same thoughts while reading the specs pdf. I remember the recent video taken at the new Toyota Circuit in Japan (by Carwow) where the auto-Mk2 scored a better 0-100km/h than the manual one. So what data should we trust? So actually the new one is a little bit lighter then the old one (5kg)? While it has more options...
Also funny how the acceleration of the manual vs automatic is the same, that means the automatic isn't really fast and launch control isn't great.
In Flanders:I had your same thoughts while reading the specs pdf. I remember the recent video taken at the new Toyota Circuit in Japan (by Carwow) where the auto-Mk2 scored a better 0-100km/h than the manual one. So what data should we trust?
The 0-100 performance is not much important in real life, but it's someway important to us who are blindly buying a car before knowing how well will actually perform the automatic gear with respect to the manual gear.
I guess one of the most trustworthy source has been these two posts by @MRA3, very clear and with many founded arguments:

To me, one thing that also made the needle tilt towards the manual gear was the emission rate (confirmed by the pdf data), that is much higher for the auto, and dangerously beyond a "rounded" threshold (200) that in the current times could mean a higher probability to incur in insane taxes like we are already seeing around in Europe.
Yes, in some countries my fears have already become a tough reality...In Flanders:
Manual: 2310β¬ one-time tax and 327β¬ yearly
Automatic: 3765β¬ one-time tax and 343β¬ yearly
In France, the difference is 23000β¬...
Basically, not much difference.
