Heard couple of times that in harder track use GR Yaris has issues with oil pressure on track.

One recommendation seems to be to overfill the oil little bit to dip up oil pressure - what is the recommended overfill?

Heard that somewhere they've added baffles to oil pan to manage oil movement better in the engine - is such oil pan existing somewhere already or custom stuff? might be a worthy upgrade if tracking alot.

Also one option could be to use Motul V300 0w30 engine with little bit higher viscosity for high temps.

Comments and recommendations?

I had the warning zero times on stock ecu but as I changed to Syvecs which logs a higher rate I had the warning one or twice. It's only for a few tenths of a second but enough to trigger a cel. Overfill with oil (I also changed to 5/30 for temp reasons) and never had a issue again.

When you changed to Syvecs you increased power at the same moment right? Just to clarify. So without power increase everything should be fine?

Assuming this is a warning limit topic - stock ECU vs syvecs. and that low oil pressure occurs in high G (braking?) situations so not ECU or HP related in that sense.

Read in Fensport Blog that they used 1ltr overfill that sounds quite a big amount. but need to check and evaluate what to use. maybe 3-5dl for starters..
One recommendation that when track driving double check that oil level is at max.

If you have more power you have to break even harder before a corner and if you accelerate out of a corner with more power than stock you should have more G's with the grip level the GR Yaris provides or am i wrong?

It is not usually braking or accelerating that causes oil starvation in transverse engines like these, it's lateral G while cornering.

Chassis and tires are the limiting factor for G's. Maybe with +500hp engine also creates G's but it is seldom you get over 1g when accelerating, maybe with luck on 1st gear...
I drive the same speed to corner if I have 250hp or 300hp. There's seldom all out corners on track (know only one in Finland). So hp seldom defines the corner entry speed if you start up with moderatly fast cars.

There's a point in added hp that if you have higher tuned engine, it will heat up oils more which means lower viscosity and lower oil pressure. So yes it can be more of an issue with tuned cars.

Problem is the same regardless of powerlevel. On a stock car the light doesn't go on as easy as with the syvecs. On the syvecs it also throws a cel and put the car in a sort of limpmode. All configured with saftey for the engine in mind.

I only had the warning under hard braking into a corner. Never during cornering and sadly no where close under acceleration. 😬🤣

But with 0.5 liter "extra' oil the preassure stays happy during braking. Its a easy way to scare the driver with a cel and limpmode in the middle of a turn on the track. Tried it once and now I always check the oil level before trackaday. (Like you should if your not an idiot like me.🙄)

The design of engine will have low oil psi in general
Toyota design 3 oil jet to cool down the pistons, with this kind of design , oil psi will never be hight like other car ~

We have the same oil pressure issue with the Toyota 2zzge fitted in the lotus. Momentary pressure drops when using sticky track tyres.
The real answer is a new sump although overfilling sort of works depending on lateral g and rpm.
On the lotus I think it’s usually the top end that gets starved and the cams are trashed although people have had them stop on track with damage it usually presents some time later.

Any idea where this 0.5ltr is in terms of dipstick?

I find oil level check rather tedious especially with new oils. After few track day visits oil gets some colour and it becomes somewhat easier.

I fill up till dip stick is at max. Than I add en other 0.5 with a Messbecher (don't know the English word 😆). Than I mark the hight with a small score. That worked for years.

Thanks for the hint!

Pardon my ignorance, but noticed the pan was revised, not sure if it has anything to do with oil pressure though?

Seems the 12101-18050 is 50% more expensive at Toyota :(
