GR86 Exhausts



I'd probably look in to something on these lines. I wouldn't want anything loud but something audible that sounds better than stock.
I also prefer a higher pitch to the exhaust; personally, the low Subaru rumbles don't suit the car as it's a sports car and not a rally car (or a car to cause mayhem in).

I've never actually put an exhaust on a car so it would be fun to do if I can justify spending the money but I wouldn't want to regret it for being too antisocial.

What a cop out. It doesn't have a GPF. Not every car does! Clearly don't know the market or the car since their system fits post emissions control.

I would probably go for HKS Spec L II due to its deep tone and lightness.

Fujitsubo is also on my list and it sounds really good with the 2.4 Engine but it is a bit heavy ( well heavier than HKS). (y)

Any drone form the Perrin? I was interested to get some sound clips, did some Googling, found a post from someone on the American forums who said "The drone at 2k - 3k is substantial." Which instantly puts me off.

What are the differences between the two and do they sound the same? Also do the ones out right now fit the new 2022 model BRZ?

The 3" version is renowned for being droney, which I believe they don't sell anymore. The 2.5" resonated is the one you want (they do a non res too). No drone.

guys i am desperately looking for answers and confirmation that the EU GR86 doesnt have an GPF. Can anybody confirm wether it has one or not?
all i can see is speculations and hopes :(

There is nothing 100% factual to suggest whether it does or doesn't have one, unfortunately you will have to wait a month or so until deliveries start happening. I am in the 'it doesn't have one camp' and it will be like the previous generation in that it has 2 catalytic converters (Primary in the manifold, secondary smaller one in the front pipe). The fact it is an NA engine with port injection means its particulate emissions are going to be low which omits the need for a GPF.

I am not sure if I am looking in the correct user manual (OM_MM_OM18131E_v1-1.pdf) but that manual does reference GPF on page 342:

GPF system warning light (warning buzzer)
 
Oh good spot! looks like i'll eat my hat. That is surprising. I wonder where this is fitted. Despite this we still have the full power (more than the US which doesn't have a GPF)

That must also mean Mazda will have to make changes in the future as their MX5 does not have a GPF.

And thats the issue we (german whatsapp group of orderers) are struggeling with. Technically with D-4S injection combining both techniques, it should be possible that a GPF is not needed. GPF is a must for direct injections(only) cars.. and diesels, which neither of those is the GR86.

I thought that an missing GPF was one of the main reasons in regards of the short selling time period of only 2 years in europe (+ safety regulations like the roof structure, beeing an old vehicle platform and more...)

And yes, my grammar is beyond madness - sorry for that internet strangers :) 🌷
 
I have a technical request in with Toyota UK to hopefully clarify if the UK cars will have a GPF / EGF / OPF or whatever other acronym there is for one.

I'm hoping there won't be and we can source some of the exhausts made for the US market (I've opted for the Invidia Q300). I saw this one and it makes me laugh every time I watch it, if you want a LOUD exhaust check it this obnoxious one out:
