Yeah he certainly loves to change his oil. Will Subaru strip and inspect engine under warranty? Otherwise I guess all he can do is take off his mods, sell it to a dealership and eventually the problem will come up for the next owner :(

I didn't click the video, because of the shitty image and headline.
Usually i just read the comments in the posts below ;)

Did somebody watch it?
I did, he was just as dramatic as the title.

Too many young americans doing the same thing desperate for those views. The GR86 'Hidden Features' ones are the best, as if its a video game. Just read the manual pal.

"HEY GUYZ, make sure you SMASH that like and subscribe button. Now, not many people know this but there's a SECRET 12v socket in the glovebox. Now a word from our sponsor Nord VPN"

Bore off mate.

The early videos highlighted the issue and since the Toyota dealership initially Refused to fix the broken engine following some drifting from then on it’s all been about clicks and likes. The only “new“ info has been from the Japanese guy who cut the oil pick up apart and posted photos of it on Twitter.

I'm not clicking for that reason. Also, annoying YouTuber Face in the thumbnail. Can someone be a hero and summarise it for me? :D
Done 11k miles, somehow his 4th or 5th oil change.

Wanted to send a sample of oil to a third party company to analyse so that he has independent proof of RTV.

Changed the oil, found out that he actually has metal shavings inside the oil, where there weren’t any on previous oil changes.

Spoke to Toyota dealer who asked if it was first oil change, he said no. Mentioned that unless there is no recall they can’t drop the pan for free. Guy then mentions metal shavings, advised him to bring it to the shop next week and recommended not to drive until then.

Watched it a while back but that’s pretty much the jist of it.

That's fine. I can see the value in that. Lots of people in the UK use Blackstone too. And I'm certainly not saying regular oil changes are a bad thing. But they seem to recoil in horror when you say that you "only" change your oil every 10k miles, which is a perfectly acceptable standard in Europe.

Lots of those reports saying it's all normal stuff that filters through during run in.

A few with vRS's during their oil saga were getting them tested. Turned into a right debacle with people nitpicking over minutiae. Change oil every 10k and you'll be fine. I'll do a change at the first 5k to be sure but after that I'll go back to every 10k unless I start tracking it.
