GR Yaris engine cooling under body panel

I've had positive results with mine along with a DIY oil cooler cooling pipe. Easily dropping 20 degrees in both box and engine oil on 30 degree track days

the GR under cover is a must for decent speed Track GR yaris owner
i monitor Gr yaris transfer case with temp sticker. without cover the oil temp will sky rocket to 150C +
with under cover install it will lower it down to 120

good read on engine cooling.
The factory car does not have oil cooler as such, its a water to oil heat exchanger. GR Corolla seems to have a larger heat exchanger, though it does not provide any more additional cooling, just reduces the temperature delta between oil and water more effectively.
One good solution for also cooler engine could be in GR world adding more efficient air to water heat exhanger, though not sure if such are available that fit into GR Yaris dimensions. Coupled with larger heat exchanger from GR Corolla it could be simple yet effective approach. Less parts, less weight.

My approach with GR cooling is to have a sufficient reserve for cooling for occasional track fun. In cold winter usage it is rather too effective, i.e. water and oil does not heat up that well if everything is open but luckily we can block the radiators if needed (like they do in WRC).

this was the point also that I got from a guy with TME background - transfer case oil gets rather hot and actually it is a weak link in driveline.
Likely they drive bit harder than regular fellows but they have been testing the car in rally sprint like conditions for a while..

RE engine oil the issue as far as my brain could fathom was that the water oil cooler itself is behind the rad and intercooler so literally gets the hairdryer treatment.

Simply blasting it with fresh air along with a slight overfill of the coolant with water wetter and I was the happy side of 120.c even on the hottest days. Surprised myself how much difference it makes.

The issue with a cooler is that your warm up is slower, you always run cool and thr pump works harder. Fine for some applications but not for most.

I did the same...easy to make and cheap. was like 10 degree on "German Autobahn"......
So for longer journeys at higher speeds its def. an improvement. dont know how it behaves on track where you have more engine load and lower speeds. for me thats enough oil cooling

Try to do it on my car
But with aftermarket intercooler
Leave no room for duct

Look like GRMN is better material and even large opening compare to GR garage
do you know the cost? likely 2x to GR Garage version, thanks for GRMN tax.
If Toyota was smart they would have sold the "racing" stuff very cheap, so customers would trashed their cars and bought new cars. :D

A few months old, but...

The GR Parts under tray is ¥25,000 here in Japan. The GRMN tray is north of ¥80,000. So over 3X as much, and it's just plastic.

When tested back to back at normal road speed (100km/h expway), the GR Parts cooling tray dropped the transfer by 10°C and the GRMN tray was down 20°C over being blocked with tape. But GRMN tray transmission temp was up about 5° over the GR Parts tray. I would imagine when you're hitting it, the delta T for both trays will be even larger over stock.

Also, with the GRMN tray you can't change the oil and filter...have to remove the whole tray.

How much clearance is there above the panel? Plenty of slimline naca ducts available for not much.
Plenty. It sits pretty far back. The NACA duct is riveted in with plastic rivets. You can make it removable, but even then, it's too far back to even see the oil filter and the oil drain is kind of to the side.

Easy enough to mod the stock tray with a duct, but it also directs air upward, into the transfer.

Any idea where I can order such a duct online ?
