GR Yaris ECU solution .... Is it real???

I'm assuming that maps can be made bespoke to each car to suit the hardware that they have?

Many of us are running intakes, exhausts, OPF deletes & more, so there isn't a one size fits all.

This will be interesting as no one seems to know how much power the oem turbo can make before going bang or indeed how much power the oem clutch can handle.

Yes, we data log each car on the dyno and build a custom calibration for your car, whether it's stock or modified.

Do your research, read reviews and choose a tuning company carefully . We have done extensive development on our own shop car which we have owned for a year using Syvecs so we have a good understanding of this platform which we can now apply to the stock management system. There are other companies who have invested in the same way that we have and will be able to do an equally good job. However, there will be plenty offering tuning for these without a dyno and without any prior experience or knowledge of the GR platform.

This is my biggest concern & a massively valid point. I've seen some really dodgy tuning over the years, even though these tuners were authorised dealers.

You've only got to look at a few of the highly tuneable cars such as the GTR, & although there are many tuners, owners generally only use specific ones & travel the length of the country for this expertise.

It's fantastic that this is happening but as you've clearly stated, choose carefully ๐Ÿ‘

I've seen quotes of just under ยฃ500 for a map from reputable dealers, which isn't bad, IMHO.๐Ÿ˜Ž

I've also seen that some owners are trying to flog their tuning boxes for a lot more than that, before the news circulates fully. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Now that's not being very community spirited. ๐Ÿค”

Perhaps one of the only silver linings of my car not having arrived yet, is that I've not bought a tuning box yet :)

Glad to see proper re-maps coming available!

One issue I want to wait and see about is valve float. It was occuring on a couple of cars being tuned before the turbo was maxed out and from my understanding it the first mechanical limit you'll hit when tuning.
I have an exhaust with just a motorsport cat and it'll soon have and intake and intercooler and oil cooler.

Upgrading the valve springs is a fairly extensive exercise too, at which point you may as well upgrade the cams (if tuning allows) while you have the timing chain off and the cams out.

There is no issue with valve float up to a certain point, 330-340hp if tuned correctly and within the limits. We have done extensive testing and development on our car using Syvecs which is why we say to choose carefully and preferably a tuning company who already have experience of the G16E-GTS engine. As for replacing the valve springs, it's a fairly big job but it can be done without removing the head, by pressurising the cylinder to keep the valves from dropping into the cylinder etc.

Motive had valve float at 210kw/456nm atw, which is +55kw/74hp from stock. Idk what that is at the engine, you europeans are weird with your bhp's.
Edit: Was 210kw

That would mean a 20% transmission loss, which seems low for a 4wd system?

All dyno's read differently, more important is the difference between runs. Other's dyno's have read as low as 144kw atw

Yup. The dyno is a comparison tool. Numbers are just for bragging rights.

25% is probably closer, but we used to get that much transmission drag on what you would know as an R8 Clubby, when on the dyno in the UK as we would get WHP and also calculate the BHP from the roller resistance.

74hp and need to add transmission losses to that delta too. But taking that as a margin of error, +75hp over stock is more or less what others are saying. It might vary quite a bit with backpressure (i.e. different exhaust/cat setups) though so good to keep it in consideration...

I would like to see a bit more BHP, but more importantly for me is all the niggles that can be sorted out, The laggy throttle response when reving the engine - only people who have driven 3 cylinder STs will understand how laggy the throttle response is and its terrible folks ! to turn off start stop by default, to rev match on by default and to turn off lane assist by default are a few items i would love to see done. If these can be done - sign me up !!!!
