GR86 Considering a change...

The residuals on the Alpine make it a great buy, It's on my bucket list to try one.
Looking at Autotrader, you can save £20k on a low mileage 2 year old GT model or, grab an ‘approved’ 2024 plate GT for over £10k less than retail. To my mind the brand new ones are well overpriced… I still really like them though, despite there being no place to put my Starbucks and Pain Aux Raisin 🤔

Always liked the A110, just looks poor value now when you can have a similarly aged P450 F-Type that has pretty much twice the engine. I get that it probably doesn't do what the A110 does but still.

I've always liked the Alpine, it's a bit of tonic that the car world needed. It's a shame much like the Emira, that prices got silly for them. £54k is strong money, £90k is absurd, whilst it may be a bespoke chassis, from a factory geared up for mass producing normal cars, it is quite spartan, uses a very normal massed produced engine and has stuff fitted from others parts bins, up until recently the infotainment was out of Suzuki Swift. Then again name something else like it, its completely original.

Yeah and in a world where a hot hatches are knocking on the same kind of money it's not completely bonkers either.

Or not so hot hatches when you see the price of a well specc'd VW Golf GTD. Doubled in price in 10 years.

not to mention the dacia switches & the radio steering remote controls that have been in renaults for last 20+ years! (nothing wrong with them in a £15-30k hatch)

was a big renault fan had plenty of renaultsports over the years....alpine oh yes bring it on....what a bit of a disappointment on price, interior practicality & finish!

not to mention option prices that made porsche look a bargain!

lotus elise!

And all it took was most of the global governments kicking the money printer up to 11 and ripping the knob off a few short years ago! 🤦🏼‍♂️

Apologies for the rubbish photo but I walked past this one in Southern France today. Another white one with a black stripe came past in the other direction too!I love the look and ethos of them and if the drive is as good as generally reported, I could see myself in one in the future, post kids and uni, but obvs alongside my GRY 😍. I think the DCT, rwd, french flair etc would be a nice contrast.

On the subject of Alpine. My previous Elise Cup was used in a group test for Car Magazine back in 2018.
I got to have a go in one of the first press car Alpines built. It was pre production so still had a few minor tweaks required. I liked the car, the only reason why I would never buy one is because I have no interest in auto gearboxes. Such a shame, I would have really considered one with a proper manual box.
One other good thing I got out of the day was some brilliant action photos of my Elise. They still adorn my wall today.

The automotive equivalent of being out in a bar or club on a student night of the week and spotting what is clearly the mother among a group of 18-22 year olds.
