Brill, I’ll sort out my order (and worry about my complete and utter lack of any DIY skills later!!)
It's easy to install with a few tools, worst case you can pay a local garage, and give them the instructions, only takes about 10mins.

Or find a local GR buddy!

Hello all, I'll be out for a week or so so any orders will take a little longer than usual to despatch .

Agreed, was very easy to install. Even a ham fisted simpleton like me who is used to the Farming school of DIY, (‘Does it move and it shouldn’t? Baler twine; Does it not move and it should? Hammer 🙈) did it in 15 min with no cursing / blood/ ‘spare’ bits or lost / broken bits ! (Did buy proper trim removal tool instead of using a screwdriver though!)👍😀

Hi all,

After getting frustrated having no decent way to close the boot without getting dirt all over my hands and rubbing it into the paint, I experimented alot and have found a way to add an interior boot strap:

View attachment 13501
This allows me to pull the strap down to close the boot rather than pushing on the boot lid.

It uses an exisiting hole, requires no drilling, no modification to the boot liner and can be installed in 5 mins with a few basic tools.

Posting to see if you'd be interested in my putting a kit and instructions together. I haven't done volumne pricing yet so have added multiple price options yet just to see if it's viable with materials, postage, instructions etc.
Yes please - can i get ordering info please @PVGR?

PVGR GR86 Boot Closing Strap

Tired of dirty hands and scratched paint?

Installation Instructions.

Installation time: Approximately 10mins

Installation difficulty: Easy

Recommended Tools and parts:

This is a recommendation, this could be done with far less then recommended,

  • 1 x boot strap kit (comprising 1 strap, 1 bolt, 4 washers and 2 nuts)
  • 1 x 10mm spanner
  • 1 x small trim removal tool
  • Choice of:
  • 1 x socket handle with 1 x 10mm long reach socket or
  • Additional 10mm spanner

If you don’t understand the tool list then read the rest of this guide as it will become clear why you need them and when you could use a different tool.

Step 1:

Remove the boot lid liner by the removing the 7 pop clips.

Use the trim tool to gently pry the centre of the clip until is pops up, then gently remove the entire clip.

Do this to remove all of these clips and the boot lid liner should be free.

Step 2:

Locate hole and install bolt.

You are looking for the top middle hole as marked here.

Take the bolt, place one washer on, and thread through the back as pictured. Take your time, you do not want to drop anything, trust me.

With the bolt in position, place the 2nd washer over the bolt

Then the 1st nut over this

Tighten enough to prevent rotation.

Note: As nyloc nuts are used, you will not be able to thread the nut by hand onto the bolt.

Therefore, carefully place one spanner over the bolt head from behind (to stop it moving), while using another spanner (or socket wrench) to tighten the nut.

Step 3:

Re-install the boot lid liner as it was, threading the bolt through the top middle existing hole as marked below.

Then put the popclips back, place it in the hole, then press to clip. Do this for all 6 clips

Step 4:

Install the strap. Place washer 3 over the bolt, then place the strap over that.

Then place the 4th washer and 2nd nut over this.

Tighten the nut

Boot strap is complete! Enjoy closing the boot without getting dirty hands or marking the paint work!

Feedback is most welcome, just message me :)
Finally got round to installing this today.

Thank you @PVGR 🙏

Took the liberty of adding a final little mod to satisfy my OCD. A black plastic nut cap to cover the bolt 🤣🤷🏼

Job done ✅
