GR86 Boot closing strap - saving dirty hands and paint marks.

Hi all,

After getting frustrated having no decent way to close the boot without getting dirt all over my hands and rubbing it into the paint, I experimented alot and have found a way to add an interior boot strap:

This allows me to pull the strap down to close the boot rather than pushing on the boot lid.

It uses an exisiting hole, requires no drilling, no modification to the boot liner and can be installed in 5 mins with a few basic tools.

Posting to see if you'd be interested in my putting a kit and instructions together. I haven't done volumne pricing yet so have added multiple price options yet just to see if it's viable with materials, postage, instructions etc.

Is there really no handle/slot inside the lid? Can't believe that forgot that, had one on every car for years! Count me interested.

I just pull behind the lock mechanism but close to hitting myself if I'm too fast lol

I have tried the lock grab and smashed my hand and grabbed at the rubber concerned it will come off in addition to dirtying my hands and scratching the boot so thought I'd do something about it.

It works nicely I feel, although I'm sorry to report it does not function as coat hook

I'll get some more specific pricing and instructions sorted soon then

Absolutely!!
This has been a real bug bare of mine with the car and I hate finger marks on the back of the car.
My old car didn’t have any insulation on the inside of the bootlid so I could just use one of the (admittedly sharp) holes to close the boot but this has nothing. I started with behind the lock big wintered if that would cause an issue further down the line.
