GR86 Best induction kit for airflow?

Sometimes it's better to part with some cash rather than spend all your waking hours looking at the stuff you want on the Internet.

After the initial posts, it would have been nice if they gave us a bit more info. Hopefully you haven't lost out taking the plunge on the usd listing.

Looking forward to hearing how it sounds. Even a couple of phone clips are better than nothing.

If it's not too bad I'll definitely get one. Car is a keeper so I can do the man maths. Any bits I'm not confident of fitting I'll pile up and get TD to do one day.

For anyone else who might be considering it, although it's listed as 1250USD (plus 20USD for delivery), on purchase, it's converted to GBP, so ended up £967 (based on MasterCard rates). So that's cheaper than ordering fro Tegiwa even with a 5% discount.

Bloody expensive, but those sound clips have sold me on it, and I got in touch with someone on Facebook who'd posted about his and he was proper chuffed with it.

Just an update for you KN folks with the loose sticky heat shield, so I reached out to KN, they had 2 e-mail addresses for support.

One response was, remember to clean the heat shield and re-apply (not stated on their instructions that came with the kit) - totally useless response as the sticky has already come off.

The second response from their other e-mail was more helpful and they offered to send me replacement sticky heat sinks for free from the US - all received and good to go again although not yet got round to trying.

Fitted mine today, instructions are clear and its pretty easy to do, the quality isn't amazing but not bad enough to return it, neither of the flared ends were actually round, the internal tube isn't exactly in line with the external fittings, there was a loose burr from the drilling still inside which is poor form but it fell out easily, sticky heatshields were both hole punched which is a bit odd, i added some more insulating tape to the joining edges of the heatshield and there’s no guide on how far to stick the tube into the TB gaiter, it looks good and sounds awesome when you boot it though 😎

This looks and sounds incredible. Seriously tempted to get one. Thanks for taking the plunge! What I'm curious about is if the air filter is propritory, or is its perminant and needs cleaning now and then?

I think it's an oiled one which needs cleaning but they also sell replacements on their site. I'll know more once it arrives, hopefully.

Because of the lack of videos showing bumper removal on EU cars, I was dreading the headlight washers, but they actually turned out to be the easiest part of it all, when installing my Outbound Motorsport snorkel.
But you are right in that it's an important step!

Given that I might have to be doing it soon, do you have any how to videos you followed? It's the bit I'm dreading the most, so I always feel better if I go in knowing what needs to be done.

I guess the instruction that @Itcaptainslow posted are the most accurate, but I primarily followed the instructions posted here on gr86.org, as well as looking at videos primarily from Kevin Vo on YouTube I think.

Regarding the headlight washers (@Grblue86) I simple, slowly pulled the whole washer out - first by using my fingernail - and then hold it out out using two fingers between the washer and the front bumper. Then I took a plastic trim remover, and used it to carefully pry the clip holding the cover on the actual washer off.
Once off, I carefully let the washer return to its "home" (it's spring loaded and will pull back rapidly of not held back).
Once I was finished with the intake and had reinstalled the front bumper, I simple pushed in the covers in the holes on the bumper again, and they both clipped onto the washers. No need to pull out the washers again to reinstall the covers.

I know my detailer took mine off when doing the PPF so I was hoping it would be easy enough.
 
I found one of Kevin Vo's videos where he's changing headlights and includes bumper removal. It looks straightforward, but if I had a quid for every time I'd said that before ending up spending hours on something, then I probably wouldn't be driving a Toyota.
