GR Yaris (Gen 2) Armijs GR YARIS MK2

Today was the day that i finally fitted all 4 wheels, TPMS worked straight away without any issues, on the first braking turn though on the test drive i FELT the difference in handling and Grip compared to OEM fitted tyres, MUCH more different, more jelly like, grip more softer and worse, have to be more mindfull from now on and be somewhat slower and not so rash.

But i gotta say, i guess i prefer the overall look more with the White Braids than OEM black ones.
Looks very nice, reminds me of the evo 6 TME with those wheels!

If you like the ride on the Baids, I can recommend Cup 2‘s which are available in 205/50/17. I really liked them in the summer…..

There was some rain yesterday and overnight it got cold, sooner or later winter is definetly coming, but this year overall looks like later. Second half of october relatively warm more than usual, often we get first snow here end of October, not this year it seems.

No snow in sight this month, we keep on waiting.

In other news, Mudflaps are still not shipped, hopefully will get them within november and before much snow. End of week going with the GRY and GF to Poland very south, hopefully will be some places as well for some nice pics with the car.

Went and cleaned/conservated the OEM summer rims and tyres for the long winter sleep. Cleaned well, no permanent damage or dirt, was washed quite often. looking fine for next year.

We had a good freeze here over night.. My winters are going on today. Braids like yours but in 18" with some Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 Studless. October does feel warmer this year.

I’ve just had a call from DHL telling me that they are awaiting shipment from MFF Japan and to expect custom charges (which I knew about) so hopefully you should be getting yours soon.

Well still nothing from them e-mail wise, could be Kaylan ones need longer, we will see, in other news the Michelins arrived today 😅
Lets see if they will see some action this winter.

I have had no contact from MFF so just because its quiet does not mean they haven’t been sent ;)

I’ve just had a shipping notification from DHL that my order has shipped and it will be here next week

Well then, first day of the trip, we have not done that many kilometers today, we are taking it easy and slow, but i do have to say, automatic for the win for continuous high speed driving, 7th and 8th gear are clutch for economy, was doing 150 for an extended period, 2.500 rpm, about 10 liters per 100 km at that speed, oil temperature did go up to 100 though, but other than that, just fine.

Very pleasantly surprised about fuel economy on narrower winter tyres on extended trips, 8 gears really do help especially on high speeds. Toyota app mileage mostly corresponds how much was actually used per km. Very happy. And this acceleration on a proper highway with decent speeds, feels very satisfactory.

Haha, no, in Poland, totally fine, as you can see in Latvia was lowest fuel usage, was doing 95-100

Cool ! No idea yet about mine, but did you order later than I did ?

Anyway, got to our destination today, car has been a champ fuel usage for the sustained speeds up and down the highway as it gets more hilly, still under 10 liters per 100 kmh, very happy. Pic opportunities were far and few very little.

Mountain road between Poland and Slovakia was a real battle stage overtaking the locals on the mountain pass road 😁
White wheels are black from brake dust this evening...

Contacted MFF they got back to me that they will be shipping my order around November 8.

Yesterday did the mountain road again, this time I tried it on Track mode, wow, what a difference in handling, first time trying this, and what a change, was really only using Normal 60:40 since got it, yesterday on the damp and cold mountain roads put it on track, and almost every 180 degree serpentine turn it was mostly sending power to the back, the turn feel was so much better than previous time, fell in love with the car all over again, it even being on cheapest Chinese winter wheels, once it did slide out a bit in a turn because of no traction, but everything was controlled, wanted to get a feel of how the car reacts in such a situation. Loving this trip, though front glass is really made out of hopes and dreams it seems only 800 or so km's of highway speeds and already the whole windshield is wih miniature dots in direct sun...

How are you getting on with the RSA and other assistance features? I’ve driven mine just 20 miles since picking it up as it’s now in for PPF but I have a lot of country roads near me with most of them having no road markings and I feel a bit of resistance on the steering wheel even with the lane assist off. Also the RSA chimes a lot if you exceed the speed limit by just 1mph. Had a Quick Look through the controls but couldn’t see immediately how to turn it off. I found it very annoying, although quiet the speed sign on the cluster flashes when exceeded which is distracting. I wasn’t going hard as running in I’ve not exceeded 4k rpm and some of the speed limits in my immediate area are ridiculous for normal driving.

MFF shipped my order (3 sets) yesterday, they will be here on friday.

@Dave9202 I'm also super annoyed by RSA. You can disable it by holding center button on left side of steering wheel, navigate down to settings. Click, find RSA, click. Quite annoying procedure, I think there you can fully disable lane assist aswell, not sure about that. My car is also at PPF currently.

Lane assist and RSA can be adjusted in the settings menu. The quickest way to do this is to setup one of the 3 dashboards with the settings logo on the centre screen then when you start up the car, you can disable straight away
