GR Yaris šŸ‘ Positives - what do you love about the GR Yaris?

The traction control programming seems to be the best I've ever encountered. In normal spirited road driving on snow it has not once cut power totally and left me standing still like other cars do. It is very annoying and could even be dangerous. My CLA does this very easily, as soon as it detects front tire slip it cuts all power and then I'm in the middle of an intersection standing still for what feels like forever. So, another positive for the GR-Y. Also the car didn't care about light overlap of thottle and brake and allowed light taps with left foot to control the cars trajectory. Not sure how much it allows it but at least enough to be usefull in slippery conditions.

In practice it allows a lot, I'm using left foot braking all the time for on/over-limit driving. Maybe the biggest positive, on par with the brilliant handbrake, as almost no modern cars allow it and it really benefits the car control especially when grip levels are tricky (due to complementing the diffs 'locking' under power which otherwise become open if just releasing throttle, rotating the car perhaps more then one wants at that point)

When they say ’dont go out and drive due to heavy snowfall’ - its the best driving weather for GR. Beautiful driveline with its LSDs, rear biased AWD, ESP off and handbrake - makes you laugh and smile every time!

I can easily say GRY is the most fun car Ive ever had. Maybe race car was more fun to push hard around track but I wasnt laughing then, more of an adrenaline kick. GR makes you smile.

What do I love? Prob said it before but the suspension suppleness, and fluidity. Damping is fantastic. On bumpy UK A and B roads it's amazingly composed.

Over the years I've often thought that standard hatches with a good chassis and soft suspension can be really quick in these conditions (eg Mini Cooper, Focus...) and stiffer sporty models can struggle to keep up.

No such issues with the little GR.

Turning circle is very good

1) the car is surprisingly comfortable. Both damping and seats
2) still running it in but the car already feels like chomping at the bit and raring to go. Pulls really well on boost
3) it looks great! Yet most people don’t give it a second look!
4) I enjoy the fact it doesn’t make much external noise
5) the interior has a quality feel to it for a small car

I got the car as an entertaining alternate to the (wife’s) daily driver that I can take anywhere (kids’ birthday parties, school runs) without most people noticing. And when asked, I say I drive a Yaris and remain under the radar.
I really enjoy how it nails that fun/discretion balance.

Almost exactly the same as me!

The driving, the fantastic driving!! Might get a bit carried away here..but it is really extremely entertaining to drive the Yaris actively I find, It has the grip and traction on all surfaces and communicates well. The 4wd and the engine is a great combo, as are the breaks!
But it needs to be driven, in all conditions, to live up fully!

It is just so fortunate that Toyota and Mr Toyoda supported and pulled this through, it is the 20's after all !(even 2023)
I've had plenty of different cars, and been lucky to drive several different "performance" models, to my liking I think this one beats most of them 😁

I love it even more now that I have the MST intake fitted. It brings out all sorts of beautiful induction and turbo noises, and the car definitely is more eager to pull a bit lower down in the rev range. I also used to feel, like I have read from many others that the car had inconsistent boost from pull to pull, but that is pretty much gone now with the intake fitted.

That it equals or exceeds the power level of Group A Mazda 323 Rally car in stock form.

Have had little harder time in life for some time now and the feeling GR provides when you take out daily duties is just wonderful. Resembles me of the times when had a Porsche as a daily - every drive was a experience.

GR Yaris is a bit like what Ferrari 288 GTO is with 308 - special model built on standard car for racing homologation.

3rd UK winter with the GRY and I’ve just changed to my winter wheels with CC2 tyres. I’ve come to the conclusion that this is my absolute favourite time of year to drive. Greasy roads, wet leaves, rain, frost, nothing fazes this little car.

The summer tyres (original PS4S) are great at all other times but start to get a little skittish as the weather cools down. The CC2s are softer in the sidewall and quieter but I actually love the combination of this for ā€˜progressive’ driving on greasy tarmac. You can sometimes feel the car moving around a little bit but always seems under control and just pulls its way round. Epic!

Yeah, I went round a roundabout today (all to myself) with these tyres on, having not driven the car in 2 weeks or so, and it was quite fun feeling the car sliding about a little, yet still making forward progress!

Hello from the other side of the globe... Wow reading everyone's post has gotten me all excited for my GR Yaris.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing but it's the M2 which is a 2025 model that arrives in early April. There's a Precious Metal color in stock but I love my white.

Thinking out loud, after breaking in to go with a catless downpipe, intake and tune. What sort of gains can one expect with the three cylinder motor? Just worried about reliability and if the motors needs a rebuild with forged pistons etc?

Like I said thinking out loud. šŸ˜‚

1. Moderate appetite, in grandfather mode 7.2 liters per 100 km.
2. Compact and powerful.
3. Does not consume oil.
4. Excellent suspension, like an iron on the road.
5. There is still room for luggage.
6. Warms up quickly in frosty weather.
7. Beautiful.
8. Excellent brakes.
9. Does not attract everyone's attention, and those in the know simply go crazy at the sight of this rocket.
10. Replaces coffee, you just need to drive on boost.
11.Toyota
