GR86 "That's a fresh whip bruv"; or the Toyota GR86 collated feedback thread

Driving to Northallerton today, spotted another on the High Street, walking back that way after parking, I noticed the drivers window was down with someone in the seat, so I stopped for a chat. Although he realised that he was fortunate to own one, he was under the impression that he could wander back into the dealers and get another . . .

(It was an auto in grey, he was from Bedale)

I am a bit tired of the Supra thing.

Its always ... nice car, how much BHP, Ive got an X Y Z at home.

Then you get that momentary pause. And you know whats coming......

What is it, a Supra?

It'll keep coming believe me! A week or so ago at the Edinburgh Car Show I had show plates and full signeage in place:
The front number plate looked like this

The rear number plate looked like this

and my engine bay sign was this


So there's me in the Showhall with an A3 sign in the engine bay, GR86 on a front plate, GR86 on a rear plate and the OEM GR86 badge on the boot lid. Yet I still had people ask either what it was, or what model of Supra it was ... I now just scream internally and engage my positive social battery so as not to make them feel more like a c**t than they obviously are. It does make me tired though

I had that at C&M last week. Then went on to ask if it had a 2JZ in it.

My mate thought he was being clever when he asked if its a BMW. I said, "No, It's a Subaru." He was confused.

Despite being a 2015 registered car. My GT86 got called a Celica a lot, along with the usual Supra comment. It was rare to meet someone who knew what it was.

Took it out for a spin Sunday with the dog, got breakfast in Cowbridge, had a look in Baffle Haus but was heaving and you had scroaty kids asking everyone to rev it. I left as I couldn't be arsed with that.
