GR86 GR86 - What wheels and tyres are you thinking about?

Thanks for the info, shoggy. I didn't know they offer other colours. I'll look into it. (y)
Your comment convinced me to go with the Tomason. TüV was also no problem, as expected. Although the Inspector checked the speedometer deviation.

EDIT: ET45 won't fit with stock struts, just checked.
That was what i thought, I'll be changing the struts as well for some coilovers. I had wondered if they would fit on stock suspension though since I watched the tire rack test and they seem to be running a 17x9 on stock suspension and made no reference to fitting issues.

My Odyssey for a set of new wheels has come to an end.
Tomason TN25 Superlight 18x8 with 225/40 R18 Good year eagle F1 Asymmetric 6
Beautiful looking wheels. I'd be tempted to put a set of Black Tuner Nuts on in place of the silver though, just to finish them off. Tastes differ of course.

Yea 8.5j is the limit with +45 offset, im running 18x8.5+45. I could just about fit a sheet of paper between the rim and spring.
Camber bolts wont help as they tilt from the wheel putting the rim closer to the spring, so its either adjustable top hats or slimmer suspension.

I'm still spending far too much time looking at different wheel / tyre / suspension offerings.

I'd love a set of Regamasters but I can't see myself being able to stretch to that budget

I came across these Kansei KNP wheels recently and think they might be the ones i go for. They have a great looking 5-spoke design and have the same/similar construction process as flow-forming, although they call it "Formlite". They're a relatively new company but reviews seem good from what I've been able to find.

They are available In 18x8.5. The only offset is ET35 which from what I can see is about as wide as you can go without silly amounts of -ve camber. The fitment can be seen here on S15RSG's car although I'll be looking at fitting 235/40/18 tyres for a bit more compliency.

I did quite fancy a 245 tyre on a 9J but at et35 I think i'll be asking for trouble. Any thoughts on this?

Now I need to make my mind up on suspesnion, but I'm already leaning towards the Bilsteins he has fitted. I REALLY don't want a crashy ride and the hike in spring-rate offered by most coilovers puts me off.

I've been dropping hints to my wife over the past few months such as, "I'm going to change the wheels because there will be more tyre options - It's almost like a long term investment." so i might pull the trigger soon.

Regarding suspension, ride quality should still be reasonable on coilovers as long as they're valved appropriately. I had some very high spring rate coilovers on my DC2 years ago, but because the valving was high quality the ride was not as bad as cheap coilovers.

Like many things, with suspension there is a massive difference when you spend more money.

Still thinking these but I'm not paying that much for them. Sizing is perfect and for any bigger brakes in future.

I am becoming a dealer for TWS (they're the factory that produces the RegaMasters). I should be able to supply these at a significantly cheaper price than this retailer you've linked.

18x8.5 ET42 5x100, 56.1 they'd be as they'd need to cover for bigger brakes in future and not foul the suspension either. Once you know prices, let me know. In the middle of doing my kitchen but once that's done I'm back on looking at wheels again.

Estimated super special GR-Zoo price would be £2,100. I would charge retail at more than that though obviously.

If on 245's

If I keep to 225's that I'm on currently. Think it all looks OK unless anyone sees otherwise? There will be 18.7mm more poke now which I'd need to double check tonight doesn't foul the arches.

I'm pretty sure these come in 8j too don't there?

Ah yes of course, you did mention it earlier in the thread.

I know Ross went to an 8.5 and I have photos from last years Japfest and it's close but I don't know his offset. Looking now.

Edit: his were 18x8.5 ET35 which according to Will They Fit is 25.7mm more poke than stock. These at ET42 would mean 18.7mm more poke so should be fine., even if I lower in future.

He's on an ET35 on a 8.5J with a 225 40 18. I know because I'm constantly looking at wheels and Tyres myself and have used the pictures in his 'members cars' thread for reference.
