GR86 Used price trend

As I’ve said time and time again based on a percentage of the amount sold they are the same.

I would actually be more worried about the amount of 86’s for sale than the Yaris when looking at that percentage as for a large number of them they are at the end of their finance deals and have been on sale for over 3 years now the GR86 nowhere near as long.

There’s 116 GT86 & 25 BRZ for sale on autotrader right now that’s probably where you should be comparing.
Your missing my point, at the time I originally posted there was 137 GRY and 40 GR86 on Auto trader, around the time they announced the MK2 GRY, it’s the jump in sales of the GRY I was exposing as I said a lot will sell to buy the MK2, that seems to be happening, the reference point was the GR86 at 40.
Remember, the GR86 was also flooded with pre reg cars at the beginning of the year, so it’s clear they are being taken up, but the buyers for the current GRY are not there in enough quantity at the moment to soak up new supply.

There’s a bit of coincidence with the launch of the new car in that a large number of cars (remember they were delivered in batches generally) were coming up to the end of their 2 year finance package.

I imagine the end of finance deals will be having a larger variation than a new model being announced.

Your point about enough buyers is partly correct. The actual answer is there is not enough cash buyers. With finance for a used car being around 10% vs getting something like a £60k alpine for 3 years 0% the monthlies end up the same!

Down to 27 for sale on AT now and prices seem to be firming up, they may even start increasing soon (y)
The chance to get one under £30k is soon to be gone, The lows numbers of the GR86 and the simple fact it's a brilliant drivers car that’s
never to be repeated, no MK2, it’s a 2 year special, nailed on classic, I wish I had room for 2

My wife did ask me last night if I'd replace it with an Alpine, as I had test drove a few and had spent some time in the Glasgow showroom. A simple 'no' was the answer.

Only 10 cars available now at 30K or below. Good time to buy now, which a few very low mileage, even delivery mileage available.

As part of the 90 minute first allocation I of course looked at what profit could I make on such a well reviewed and received car by all the motoring press,
I had bought it though coming from 8 years in NC's as daily, and the platform of a rear wheel drive manual car that I started driving at 14 years old in a Hillman Avenger on my mates dads farm some 40 years back that I had never strayed from apart from a shocking Diesel A4!!
A base Supra in April 2022 was 40K, an Alpine wasn't much more!!
If I had the cash id buy another and store it until ive run this one into the ground!!

Is the last of the last last one, after that last one and before the next last one came up from a dealer on a 1st March reg yet though? Next time, after that last one, maybe.
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Alpine prices have gone potty in the last few years, to say the least.

Only 1 Electric blue currently for sale, its funny how it was the most popular choice from the 1st batch release, to end up being one of the rarest colour options at the final tally, i have noticed it seems to sell for a small premium over the other colours options.

It is a great colour and suits the car. Don’t think it was available in the 2nd batch, certainly not when I bought mine in July last year.

Blue run out early. Even some on the first batch were asked to change as it had run out. Early calcs thought there's less than 200 in that colour here.

My Electric blue is a 23 registered, I never seem to see others that reg for sale, I may have been lucky as was March 23 when I got delivery, it took me 40 minutes to make my order on the “Sold out in 90 minutes” initial batch ordering day.

as I said a lot will sell to buy the MK2, that seems to be happening
I'd be curious to know if this is the primary reason, selling now on the auspice of potentially getting a MK2 is a bold move given how little we know of price, spec, ordering process, allocation, interest rate. Finance deals coming to an end (and lack of further "good" deals) seem more reasonably likely.

I mean, there's a big thread on this forum indicating that a lot of current GR Yaris owners are selling theirs in hope of securing an Mk2 allocation in March/April, so I wouldn't be surprised if that makes up for a large increase in Mk1 cars popping up for sale.

For reference, there's nearly 5000 GR Yaris in the UK, so more than 3x the number of GR86s, and as mentioned, a lot of early finance deals would be coming to an end, so people might be moving on to a different car as well.

It will certainly be interesting to see the effect of the LEV mandates around the EU and the UK specifically on allocation; I can't see the UK getting anywhere near the same allocation as the MK1 because of it. Hence my trepidation that selling now with no info is high risk. I appear to have been a bit overzealous on the mute function and didn't notice the other thread!

My time here is done. The car has gone as of this weekend, and I'm off to find something with more space in the boot and back seats!

Good luck with your next venture, what’s your next possible car?
With yours sold, just 22 GR86 for sale on Autotrader, getting rare again, I would test drive an i20N if you want quick, sporty and practical, very fine car for little money, performance blue with a black roof looks cool, I can thoroughly recommend as we have one as well as the GR86, does make a better daily, What Car made it Hot Hatch of the year 2023
