GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Took my car in for its first service today (hard to believe I’ve had it for nearly 12 months now).
Didn’t let them wash it, and it definitely needed doing, so did that once I got back home. Did a quick spray around of Gyeon Wet Coat, which really seems to enhance the hydrophobic qualities of the ceramic coating already on there, especially as I don’t get the chance to wash it so often this time of year. No photos taken as the light was already starting to fade before I finished.
Hope the service went well.

Have they cleaned that coffee machine yet? ;)

I had to go to the Stratford Upon Avon dealer to get a service before the end of December, so can’t comment. Their coffee machine seemed pretty clean to me though!

Wet coat is a fantastic product isn't it? Super easy to use with awesome results.

What did the service actually consist of out of interest?

It’s mainly an oil and oil filter change, plus a long list of checks that are done. They also replaced the cabin air filter. While it was in I got them to rotate the wheels front to back as it’s recommended in the manual, but not on the standard list to be done. All was covered by my service plan so didn’t have to pay anything on the day.

An early Gtechniq Spa for the (already clean) GR86: Quick W5 Citrus APC soak; dilute W4 Citrus foam pre-wash; properly soaped up with W1 G-Wash and WM2 Wash Mitt; splooged with EC Easy Coat; dried and finished with C2v3 Ceramic Sealant.
Final step was put it to bed under its Classic Additions cover. All this before 10am on a Sunday! Good job too, as it's pishing doon now...⛈️

Had a great day at Blyton Park yesterday, tyres did well once they had warmed up a little as was only 2deg when I arrived!

Great car and really deserves to be tracked to appreciate what it can do, especially when I let the instructor have a go!

Before anyone asks I had the brake fluid changed to Dot 5.1 along with upgraded hoses but standard pads at the moment. Alignment had been done and front (upper) camber bolts installed.

Picked the car up from the detailer! 🎉 In typical Scottish weather having been dry all morning it started raining on the way to collect it, still I’ll be able to contribute to the ‘beading’ thread! 😂

PPF track pack fitted plus full ceramic coating. Also had the ducktail fitted, aero stabiliser and rear windows tinted.

Chuffed with how it’s turned out …

snap! I've just ordered an Aero stabiliser from Fensport today and have been mulling over taking it to Zoldani to get the rear quarter windows tinted. Do you mind me asking how much the tinting was? Drop me a DM if you don't wish to put it in a public thread. Looking fantastic btw ... ;)

After the first hints of snowflakes hit the street today, it was time to "install" my WeatherTech floormats.
Still no sign of WeatherTech mats for RHD GR86s - So I've made do with some from 3D Mats, although it'll be Christmas before they arrive

So cool, which suspensions setup you ran on?

Thanks @Sonic 👍🏼

The stabiliser worked out well. I think it’s a nice touch and it will stop leaves, debris etc getting into the gap.

The tints cost £165 which I thought was pretty good. A couple of the guys that do some work for the detailer do them so it was able to be done at the same time as the other work.

I have the plan too, so was interested. What's the purpose of the wheel rotation, even out the tyre wear?

Yes, just that, I couldn't get it done on my last couple of cars as the rears were wider than the fronts, but something I always try to do yearly when I can.

Dropped mine in yesterday for first service and some warranty bits. Oddly they say the SOS recall is still to do but I know they've done it. Gave me an Aygo X as a courtesy car. I'd never buy one. Been a very long time since I've driven something so gutless and compromised on visibility. I know an 86 rear visibility isn't amazing but for a general white good car it's crap and A pillars are huge. Feels far bigger that you'd expect and it's more awkward round town and tight country lanes than the 86 is.

In preparation for Japfest ‘24 I had a personalised baseball cap made, that arrived in the mail today. It beats a McDonalds name badge with dynotape on it I suppose… Road Hero Spare Wheel Kit arrived from Carnoisseur (to be fitted when I can be bothered and it's not so damned cold!).

I also had a very, very large box arrive too but, that'll be a story for another day ;)

Had to drop my other car in for a recall today, with my wife following in the GR. I only see one " Ultimate Driving Machine" in this line up.

Then I went inside. We think we've been missold on the alarm and supposed exclusivity with the GR86. Imagine spending 145k on this thinking you are getting a proper M car!

Think I'd rather buy 4 gr86 and use the change to go on a driving holiday with my mates.
