GR86 GR86 Confessions

Not wishing to ruffle any feathers here but technically they are referred to as lamps and not bulbs (which are buried in the ground). ๐Ÿ˜‰
Ahh yes, as an Electronics Engineer for 38 years I can find favour in this argument. To throw in another tuppence worth, the incandescent light source is the lamp and the casing is the bulb. Often bulbs operating at only a few mA are called lamps and any larger lamps were bulbs... ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ

I forgot just how hot the courtesy lamps get in a car! Changing mine out for Ice Blue LEDs and just grabbed the bulb - I now have a lovely smooth section on my thumb where the bulb tried to burn its way through to the bone. Iโ€™ll do the puddle lights tomorrow; Iโ€™m off to get an ice cube ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

I confess that I kerbed the rear passenger side rear alloy parking at work today as was blinded by the new building lights at 7:30am when parking up in the dark. Still in a rage when I left at 4:30pm (late!) at just how bright the lights are, I proceeded to tear the front alloy about 10 times worse on the way out of the space. I have only kerbed a wheel twice before in my life. Today, I had two in one day. Beut! A post winter refurb will be on the cards when the PS4s go back on!

That is not nice, to put it mildly and incredibly frustrating.

If it is any consolation, I did a good one on my front nearside last week. I'm very annoyed with myself about it and I still can't bear to look at it. I looked into getting a new wheel which was over ยฃ600 fitted therefore it'll have to get repaired. My hope is that it can be filled and the edge repainted if that is possible but it looks like a bugger of a colour to get right.

I kerbed my front wheel a few weeks after collection. It was repaired by a mobile service and they had to respray the whole wheel as they were unable to colour match.

I have kerbed the other front wheel recently as well but minor. That will have to wait until spring.

I am pleased to hear I am not the only one with these problems!

Haha, same! Havenโ€™t kerbed a wheel in what must be more than 10 years, but managed to get both fronts of the GR in one weekโ€ฆ

Another one here, I haven't damaged a car in living memory (admittedly at my age that's about 3 hours...) and managed to lightly kerb a wheel on day 2 of ownership. Very annoying.

However, after I'd touched that mark up my wife drove the car for the first time and kerbed about 25% of the same wheel..... to be fair, it was an evil multistorey car park exit, but still...

I think we should all blame the car. I might even raise the issue with Toyota On Line!

I find itโ€™s a difficult car to judge how close you are to the kerb, Iโ€™ve got out a few times and thought crikey thatโ€™s close! My other car is a 120D and thatโ€™s the complete opposite, I always park that far too far from the kerb.

Reading this thread has made me take out an Alloy Wheel Insurance policy

God bless the double ended...

For all the press reports of this being a narrow car, I find it.. isn't especially narrow. I guess car journos are comparing it to super cars or 911s or something.

What I'm misjudging most though is the nose - it's a good half foot to a foot longer than I'm expecting (steady, Kenneth) every time. Luckily the car has decent ground clearance, as I'm often over the kerb at the front when I don't mean to be!

I can relate to this...

40 mm wider than an MX5 at 1775 mm. Seems reasonably narrow.

RTFM and discovered that the Totota emblem [C/D] on the keyfob is actually a button. I've been pressing/holding [E] and wondering why the boot was always open and the 'Remote Windows from Keyfob' thing didn't work for me. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Now I'm properly edumacated in the art of keyfobbery - yeah, the remote windows thing does work. ๐Ÿฅณ

SWMBO went back to the car the other day when I was having an eye test.. she didnโ€™t realise the emblem was a button either and came back to find me.. She said that she was worried that somebody would think she was trying to steal the car as she was faffing about so much
