GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

www.carlimits.com does what it says on the tin, find you car's limits and learn how to deal with it. Walshy is a great teacher and you'll learn a lot about a car like the GR. You'll also learn how fast a proper driver reacts and turns the wheel to recover what would be a terminal slide for us normal humans. Travel sickness pills also advisable.

Oil: Millers - EE Performance Fully Synthetic Engine Oil With Nano Tec - 0w20 [from Fensport]
Filter: OEM Subaru oil filter & crush washer.

Very straight forward.

Would have been a 20 minute job if I hadn’t dropped the oil filler cap into the engine. Schoolboy error cost me 45 minutes to remove/replace the lower engine protection pan. [what a di$%]

In my excitement I also forgot to re-attach the “oil drain inspection plate” screws. [double di$%!]

I give myself half marks overall - still chuffed by the ease, speed and saving.

No miles planned for today but a big trip scheduled for tomorrow.

252 miles yesterday, post oil and filter change, post K&N air filter change, post Billetworks low teardrop gear knob install.

Not sure any of those changes have made much difference but the car felt so good. Got to use the full 7k+ revs a few times ….lovely.

Around 8:30 ran in formation with another Ice Silver GR86 on the M25 between Reigate and the A3 - gave each other a wave and reminded me how good the GR86 looks on the move.
 
I'm with LV= and they said changing to smaller wheels and tyres (I am on 205x55r16) was free on the policy. I imagine this is to allow winter tyres and wheels to be fitted.

Would have been charged to go with bigger wheels or wider tyres, though.
 
Bit of fettling this morning: Installed the Boot Strap, a dashboard storage tray, padded arm rest, sonic mascot and swapped the oem puddle lamps for some Ice Blue LEDs to match the interior lights.

I know my fellow forum members have been on tenterhooks waiting for an update regarding my transgression (and have literally nothing else to talk about in relation to the GR86), so I am pleased to provide an update, to put your minds at ease.

I am eligible for and will be attending a Speed Awareness Course.

Are these things still a group video call? If so, a tip from myself; Clothes and proper posture are mandatory. A family member hilariously recounted to me his experience of one of these. The instructor kicked out an attendee who joined lying down in bed, camera sideways with no shirt on.

Sold my hatchback, and whilst the 86 had basically replaced it as my daily there's no ambiguity about its role now.

In other news, received a lovely parking notice from Gatwick Airport, the driver failed to pay the drop off charge whilst in the 86. The chaps over at PePiPoo forums might be a bit argumentative but they know their stuff, and it was cancelled for procedural issues. No parking awareness course on offer ;)

Installed and Set up Carlink V5; changed reversing lights for LEDs as well as Boot interior lamp. Played with Techstream again but ‘remote windows’ just won’t work for me.
 
Took my car in for its first service today (hard to believe I’ve had it for nearly 12 months now).
Didn’t let them wash it, and it definitely needed doing, so did that once I got back home. Did a quick spray around of Gyeon Wet Coat, which really seems to enhance the hydrophobic qualities of the ceramic coating already on there, especially as I don’t get the chance to wash it so often this time of year. No photos taken as the light was already starting to fade before I finished.
