GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Yeah nightmare is exactly the word I’d use. I’ve considered pulling the plug too. I’m baffled as to why Toyota online can’t do the PDI and deliver the car by truck like the cazoo/cinch model and simplify the process massively. Also paying the deposit without seeing the car first has been really uncomfortable for me, would be much happier with a independent escrow system.
You are covered by Distance selling regulations, so you have a 14 day cooling off period, so you can reject the car if you decide it isn't suitable or maybe damaged.

Yeah that made we feel a little better, I confirmed with the online team that it’s 14 days but a maximum of 250 miles on the car to return it.

Yes the final stage was poor from the Online side for me as well , Try & get your dealer to lean on the Online buy team. The end product is very good so hopefully it will be worth the effort & the pain now. Good luck.

If it’s this painful for Toyota to take my money, I can only imagine what it’s like to get it back.

I paid the full price of the car in cash so it was doubly painful, especially as the bank tried desperately hard to suggest I was being scammed....

I can relate. I was blocked once already. Now having to unblock and try again. Only £32,460 outstanding … I have cold feet seeing that amount tbh.

I once traveled 250 miles to buy a private sale and had arranged with my bank to do the transfer ahead of time. Got to her house, went to send the money and my bank blocked my account. Had to leave without the car and get a hotel until I verified my identify (again) 😄.

I took a train to Durham once to view, and collect a motor home I’d agreed to buy on a forum.. the Moho had been checked by an agency before I travelled

I viewed it and agreed the purchase and transferred the best part of £40k … waited an hour and made a few calls to the bank to hasten the transfer.. after a couple of brews and after another hour or so the seller said “you get off as you have a long journey”… the money eventually landed in his account in the early hours of the next day

No way I’d have been so trusting…

Hang in there guys, many of us have had woeful experiences with Toyota at various stages of the buying and delivery process, but the end product is awesome, it is worth it, this frustrating period is only a very small stage of ownership, you can forget it all once it's on the drive.

Yep - holding out for what will be a car I keep for over 10 years. A small blip hopefully :)

I agree totally… any doubts I ever had have disappeared in the 120 odd miles I’ve done so far 😍

I’ve bought two GT86’s from them over the last 6 years. They’ve had close to £60k off me but the handover process has been poor.
That's really poor! I stopped using Halbeath because the sales process got really bad and moved to Newbridge where I've had good service for the last couple of cars but all from the same sales rep. He helped me with the purchase of my GR86 but at handover I found they'd moved him to used cars and he was only helping me due my specific request! That's probably why my handover was ok.

TOL says they no longer do the 5 day drive away insurance, has anyone else been told the same?

See this thread.

Collected! Absolutely gorgeous looking thing.

I just got my notification to say that my car has arrived at the dealership, but I had a change of plan at the weekend and agreed to buy Sprotacus' car that he advertised on here, which I'm picking up at the weekend. It looks immaculate, is already run in (and serviced at 1000 miles) and I'll get to drive it across the Borders and through Kielder Forest on day 1, so I really can't wait.

As such, there will soon be a magnetite grey manual car available for another lucky customer.
Just seen you allude to this on @Jayware33 's thread - congratulations on the imminent purchase and a positive outcome for both you and @Sprotacus .

Thanks, I really can't wait, particularly as this is the route I'm looking at to drive back to my parents' house after collection:

I just hope this storm has dissipated a lot by then.....
