A Pre-Registered car should generally have less than 100 miles on the clock, a brand new car delivered (not driven) to the dealership I would expect to have considerably less. My KonaN had 7 miles on it when I collected it from Edinburgh and both the wife's 4x4s had less than 10.Well, after complaining they finally got my car from end of the road and driven it back. I seen it had 32 miles on the clock. For some reason, this bothers me. Why has a my new car clearly been driven about? It should have been on a truck from new and dropped off at the compound which is 1.5 miles from the dealer. Thinking of just scrapping the whole new car idea now, the experience hasn’t been great and I’m a bit annoyed![]()
It’s the fact someone may have ragged it about for those miles - who knows. It does annoy me.A Pre-Registered car should generally have less than 100 miles on the clock, a brand new car delivered (not driven) to the dealership I would expect to have considerably less. I'd be annoyed too though. It's difficult to prove where those extra miles have crept in and it makes you wonder what else they get up to. You can still reject the car but, is it worth it for 32 miles? By the time you're fuelled up, home across the bridge and get it to the detailers you'll have done that in week one. Don't drive it at all in week 2 and you'll have made those miles back - sorted!![]()
Agree. It’s the fact someone may have ragged it about for those miles
At least they will be asking the dealership to explain themselves. Standby for a "it didn't sound right so we had our mechanics/technician/spotty apprentice take it for a spin" story ...I called Toyota who said not to take it while they investigate this as it was not standard. Now I’ve to wait for Toyota to give me some potential options.
My car arrived at the dealer holding compound at western Toyota in Edinburgh on Wednesday. Still haven’t seen the car and they still haven’t collected it (despite the fact it’s right across the road). Feel like they’re messing me about now as the sales chap getting my car keeps having customer appointments and moving me out. Complained to Toyota Online. Was supposed to have seen it yesterday and then again today … but now told next week as he’s busy.
I asked the dealer and they said “we collected it like that, we have no idea why”. So not sure why Toyota are going to get out of them. I’ll need to wait until next week now but I’m the worlds most impatient person and feeling a little irritated now and my excitement has fizzled out.Agree.

They have two petrol stations next door that they use.Could be completely innocent, it's not uncommon to have delivery miles in the teens and they've then gone to fill it up (unlikely I know),
Could be 20 customer laps at Knockhill on a dealer day, could be back and to from the bodyshop, could be anything (only joking).
Use it as leverage to get something from them, but you've done the right thing in flagging it with Toyota GB.
Sounds entirely feasible, and I'm hopeful the car will be in fine order for you. Best wishes for the collection, the fun starts here!Got a call back from the dealer who say that the car has likely been a cancelled order previously and moved about between depots. It would certainly align with the fact I placed the order and the My Toyota app said the car was in the UK instantly. This sounds more plausible and reassured me that the car has simply been moved between compounds through one or more cancelled orders. Cars are driven from drop off points to allocated dealers and back again if cancelled. It still has all of the wrap and new car film on it. I’ll inspect tomorrow visually myself and await to see what Toyota come back with as well.
It’s arrived at Southport I pick up next week!Wow - another one coming to Johnson’s Southport! The wait is well worth it by the way![]()
I would be annoyed too, but in reality 32 miles is nothing, however driven. Excellent news! If you need any of the customisations done (windows, sound generators etc) I have a laptop with Techstream installed, that I haven’t yet had the opportunity to try out to see if it actually worksDecided to go ahead and get it. Aiming for next weekend
Sounds good - you go first though, I’m nice that wayExcellent news! If you need any of the customisations done (windows, sound generators etc) I have a laptop with Techstream installed, that I haven’t yet had the opportunity to try out to see if it actually works.
Drop me a DM if you fancy experimenting with disabling the Sound Generator and we’ll plod through it together…
My magnetite grey AT has just left Livorno, next stop Bristol. I should see it at the end of November. When you getting yours? What colour did you go for again?
