GR86 UK GR86 numbers

Interesting to learn that Toyota will be selling through their dealer network for 2 weeks in October. This would make sense in order to clear cancelled orders (and possibly cars they have shipped that didn’t have a name against them). Do you have any more intel/gossip on what the total number in the UK will be please?
PS - still running my car in and I love it (irrespective of how many are coming or not!)
Next offical update from DVLA will be Oct/Nov 2023 and this show data up to end of Q2 2023.
I will update this thread when the data is available.

Third quarter will be interesting to see. Feels like loads of members on here have had delivery then, including me.

I think a lot of the second batch will be registered in Q3 July-Sep so it will be a while until we see those numbers

I’ve had an order placed and now “in the factory” from Late August / early September. Been told delivery time look like mid-November. Don’t seem to be getting allocated a cancelled order.

Excellent find. Doesn't seem there will likely be more than 400 once the second batch are all registered that fits with original speculation. Still very exclusive especially compared to GR Yaris. If it fits in your life it's one hell of a car to own. I wouldn't mind a new Landcruiser to accompany it, the local Waitrose has some large speed bumps 😂.
Great shout - I’m thinking of upgrading an SZ5 Jimny to the new Landcruiser

25th October 2023 update

I had my name down on day one for further Landcruiser info, as well as watching the first release editions in the US. I like it! But we won't get an equivalent $27.5k model, that's for sure!!

Interesting update thanks. 2 SORN lol? 2 people binned it already? 😛
Yes I was wondering about the 2 SORN cars
I have found one - the National Motor Museum GR86 in Beaulieu
The photo shows the plate and I can see that it is SORN

Now to find the other car :)

I reckon some people will probably take them off road over the winter and declare them SORN. Although not sure if you still get a tax refund for the unused months, as the first year was included in the OTR price.

~£137 per month for the first twelve months isn't it so mine will 100% be getting used come rain or shine ;-)

Question: if you sell the car within the first year you would normally get the remaining rfl refunded, what would happen with the GR86? Still a refund then the new owner would have to pay the £137 / month?

The first year road tax includes an amount equivalent to the standard rate, currently £180. The seller will get a pro rata refund of the £180, so £15 per full month left. The buyer can then tax for a full year at £180 (or whatever the 6 month rate is).

OK, so the extra £1345 (ish) that was paid by the dealer isn't included in the refund? Makes sense.
I've agreed to buy a lightly used car, so it's pertinent!

No idea.. I’d imagine you should get a refund of some sort as the money came out of your pocket

I'm looking at buying a used gr86, so I'd be the one who would have to pay the extra. Adding £1300 or so to the purchase price wouldn't help.
Did you manage to buy one? I picked one up at the weekend, then found out the road tax had been cancelled, and panicked that I'd have to pay a fortune - but I just had to pay the £180 for 12 months tax.

Although it does indeed come out of the original buyer's pocket, it's part of the original purchase price, so will be taken into account in the sale price too.
