GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Got home and still was doing respectable mpg. The only shock was paying £8.80 for a chippy tea! I really am turning into my old man 😂

Very sorry to hear about your dad, best wishes and thoughts to you and your family. Hope the funeral goes ok for you all. I've been through a few bereavements in recent times, can very much empathise. Car tinkering kept me sane last year.

Sorry to hear that mate, condolences to you and yours. I know what you mean about feeling guilty enjoying anything after a bereavement, but I hope driving the car gives you some measure of escape. All the best.

Thanks guys. Thought it best to say why I wasn't about and some know via other means anyway. Went from a month ago planning fishing trips to losing him. Went into hospital for something unrelated, expecting some antibiotics and a drip to get his levels right and we'd be out in a day or so. They kept digging to find other things and the second they did they wrote him off and sped up the end. Had to fight really hard to get him home as then I genuinely thought if he could get some good sleep and I could feed him properly he'd have a bit longer. Got him home on the Friday, had the weekend, then Monday morning I woke to not hearing him breathing. He was still warm but he'd gone. Been planning funeral, sorting bits out, etc so been a manic few days. The whole probate nonsense I'm dreading as even getting a death cert was a protracted process.

I was thinking about adding some of this (or similar) myself before winter, car is only new once. Did you self apply (so to speak)?

I think I'll struggle to do it as the driveway is slightly sloped and not conducive to easy jacking.

My deepest condolences. I especially understand the not feeling like you should enjoy anything, hopefully you will again soon. Getting out on the road has been a form of therapy for me for years.

It's weird @KobayashiMaru86 - and you might get the same as me in time - but I ordered my Focus RS when my dad was still around, but he passed before I got it. I still think of him every time I drive it but now in joy and remembrance rather than sadness. Things do get easier but it does take time.
Maybe your 86 will become that for you and you'll have a slightly wider grin when your driving it if you think of him.

Possibly. My last memory of him in it was coming back from Mid Wales chasing a Triumph Stag of all things who was fully sending it. I took ownership of his Swift so I can run it for errands. Was his and my mother's last car.
