GR86 "That's a fresh whip bruv"; or the Toyota GR86 collated feedback thread

I was sitting in my car in a car park in the sunshine with the window down trying to sort out my Android Auto and heard a girl in her early twenties say I like that blue car and I assumed she was referring to mine. I thought I would check to see how many other blue cars there were, blue Fiesta can't be that, very dark blue non descript MPV thing couldn't be that, light blue old knackered Hyundai Tuscon surely not :D Yeah must have been mine. Surveying the other cars it was just a sea of black, black, dark grey, white, black, grey, silver, black, white, black, black, oh and one red car, jeez people have no imagination.

If it had been a pimped out ST then maybe, it was an old tatty cooking model. I like the Mk7 and Mk8 ST's myself, think I prefer the MK7 over the 8.

I went for business lease silver

Saw a 911 (992) in silver with black wheels and thought it looked classy. The other colours I just thought might be been a little shouty

I was at a set of traffic lights the other day and it was a similar story with the cars lined up on the other side of the road, black, grey, black, dark grey, white, black, black, not one single "colour". I have had silver and grey cars myself and black (never again) I found the Titanium silver difficult to make look really good as it seemed to hide the contours of the car which was an achievement as it was an E46 M3.

Was out and about earlier and had a car driving past in a carpark beep to get my attention and then the occupants both gave a thumbs up. Everyone loves a blue '86 should be AdamC's new slogan.

Often see kids looking at it when driving around. I was turning right at one junction and saw a woman on the junction mouth that's a nice car. Parked up to go for walks to find people looking at it. End up having conversations with people from all walks of life. One guy in a Celica gave a knowing nod. Had a male Karen wave frantically at me to slow down. I wasn't speeding but was cold, in 5th and where a touch of drone is in the rev range. Gave him the thumbs up, blipped to 3rd and carried on. Only downside to a bright blue sports car is you get notice if you do something you shouldn't be.

Also had these kids knock the door to ask could they wash it. I wasn't home but would've definitely been no.

Whole ton of positive feedback today, lots of people stopping to chat and can't believe we all managed to get an 86!

How much do you want for it mate? No thanks!

So many people filming me and my car was a bit odd but suppose that's good feedback, got some serious attention.

Counter to the sentiment of this thread, 20+ cars on our street (including my car and my wife's MX5) got keyed across multiple panels this afternoon. It was a group of kids (probably around 12 years old) and the police have video and witness evidence (they stated they were "keying cars" to a boy they called at the door of *in the same street* and even asked which one was his mum's do they didn't "do" that one) so I'm sure they'll find them. Whether that means any compensation will be coming to those affected I don't hold out much hope but hopefully it'll scare the crap out of those involved at the very least. The officers who attended said they were going to push for them to be arrested and were visibly p***ed off.

Sorry to hear that ....I've been the victim of mindless vandalism before and I was absolutely livid, so I know how you feel. Hopefully you're able to get the car repaired, although I wouldn't hold out for getting compensation from the kind of parents who bring up bastard kids like that.

The detailer who did my new car correction and ceramic is coming over tomorrow to give his professional opinion. 90% of the damage looks very light so may be fixable in-situ. One can hope.

I've started closing my front gate as it's a fear I have, even though I have cameras. There really are some scummy kids about these days. Which is expected when they're dragged up by parents who are just as feral.

Really sorry to hear about the damage to your and your wife's cars @mackie . I hope you can get it sorted with the absolute minimal expense and inconvenience.

In the last couple of days...
Fuel station 1: "how many brake does that have, I bet it's fast".
Fuel station 2: "lovely colour. I never used to like Supras but I watched some drifting and now I love them".
Also a cheery wave from a TVR Chimera driver!
