GR86 GR86 Confessions

If you do ever hit the rev limiter, it's not fun. Rather than bouncing off the limiter you're met with a very aggressive fuel cut off, which depending on the gear you're in is very abrupt 😅
 
Oh it still does that? That sucks. I had it mapped out when I had the old car tuned, found out the hard way about that hard limit when I got it mid way though an overtake :/

Still in break in @ 520 miles.... and yeah I can see that because tbh... I'm taking it up to about 5k on a spirited run, no higher, but mainly 90% of the time I'm just up to 4k and if you drive it well it can sit here all day... feels lovely.

Super stoked about this car! Way bigger improvement than the numbers suggest on the GT that you and I both enjoyed!
 
Well mine is in 3 weeks Im still only up to 140 miles :(
My own fault as have had things to do/go to which has been in a different car, then I've been precious with the salt/ice on the road.
However I did get a late night drive back from mid Surrey to Hampshire cross country and even below 4k revs it was lovely to drive and the back did want to step out quite easily when tyres and road were cold!

An odd one probably - I get this feeling that I'm not sat low enough in the car. During the first week I kept pressing down the seat height adjustment lever each time I'd get in the car, wondering if I am not pressing down hard enough.

Me too but already on the lowest setting

Same here but I'm tall and generally quite fussy about driving position.

After a while though I realised that the driving position is great. It only feels high because the bonnet and front of the car is lower than most other cars because of the boxer engine.
 
I'm the same. Can drive in any shoe with it but it's perfect when in something with thin soles. A little bit lower would be good though.
 
I thought the seating position was lower on the GR than the GT? Sure I read that somewhere. To me it feels about the same, or at least it certainly doesn't feel any higher.

And seem to remember lots of people saying that one of the reasons the rear seats are even more uncomfortable is because there's absolutely no footspace under the front seats.
 
I wonder if the drivers seat could be lowered further with modification?
 
I am under six foot but with short legs and a long torso and I could do with the seat being a little lower as the top of the steering wheel obscures the indicator and main beam warning lights at the top of the dash.
Anyone else have this problem?
 
Man, you lot moaning about the GR86 driving position must never have sat in the GR Yaris! 🤣

I think I read somewhere that previous gen rail kits will fit the new car so worth you looking in to those.

Haha.. I actually did wonder couple of days ago (on a separate thread on this forum) not having driven GRY at all, how is that little car so much fun on corners while defying the no.1 sports car rule of ‘low centre of gravity”. I need to get that test drive booked in soon 😀

Before ordering the GR86 I was interested in the GRY, but only until I sat in it. It took 1 second for me to go from a "maybe" to "no chance".

Really, why what is wrong with it? I've never sat in one. I am tempted to pick one up as my 2nd car.
