It's lesser than the 2.0L GT86 which is 5.3LYup, reading the manual the other day (sad I know) I noticed it was 5.0L with filter.
Must be a boxer thing as my inline-4 2.3L needs 5.4L lol

I'm happy to try this on Saturday when I do my oil change. Something that I can't imagine the dealerships will be doing after our £300 servicesHi Everyone,
Subaru has this "flood mode" feature which can be also used to prime the oiling system after an oil change or if your car has been sitting for too long. It will basically crank the engine for 5 seconds without fuel/spark plugs. I don't have my GR86 yet, but I was wondering if someone could try out this feature?
It should work like this:
- Press both clutch and accelerator pedals to the floor for MT cars. Or just floor the accelerator pedal in an AT car.
- While pressing and holding those pedals, just proceed to "start" your car.
- It should turn over the engine slowly for 5 seconds
- done
Speaking to someone in the office who used to have Subaru's and they'd pull crank sensor to achieve a similar thing. It won't fire but will recirculate the oil through the filter. I know technically the engine doesn't have oil for the few secs it's going through filter but it should be fine. Most VW stuff has top filters too.I'm happy to try this on Saturday when I do my oil change. Something that I can't imagine the dealerships will be doing after our £300 services![]()
Interesting, it's not something I'd ever considered when changing the oil on my GTI to be fair and that's fine 100k miles inSpeaking to someone in the office who used to have Subaru's and they'd pull crank sensor to achieve a similar thing. I’d be inclined to try that before the oil change just to make sure it works. Last thing you want to do is start it on full throttle after an oil changeI'm happy to try this on Saturday when I do my oil change. I will, don't worry!I’d be inclined to try that before the oil change just to make sure it works. Last thing you want to do is start it on full throttle after an oil change![]()
Gonna try that, I doubt it's needed on a oil serivce without dropped oil pan and draining the engine, but it's nice to know there is that option.Hi Everyone,

Is there an online place to order an oil filter?
Right, so being the fickle chap I am, I've totally rolled back on this statement. I fit the mudguards today which meant jacking the front of the car up, so figured I may as well drain and refill the oil at the same time. So there.Having seen a few people who have mentioned how clean their oil is, I think I might hold off doing this for a while, maybe give it another couple of thousand miles of harder driving first. Besides, weather's filthy at the moment, so I don't really want to go outside and do it![]()
I miss the GT86 sound! I do agree the car sometimes sound like a diesel German car.Right, so being the fickle chap I am, I've totally rolled back on this statement. Very easy job. I was too puny to unscrew the filter by hand, but had a tool for it in the garage which I'd yet to use. So that was fine. Feels like a tad over 5l came out. But only put 5l back in and it's fine on the dipstick. Good shout on the pressing the accelerator trick...did that first to get the oil pumping, checked the level and started it. Will reset my MPG average and see how it goes from now. Think I'm at about 1200 miles or so.
Oil was dark when it came out. Didn't see any glitter. Although I didn't inspect it all that closely with a torch, just disposed of it quickly and responsibly by chucking it over next doors lawn.
Anyone else notice how absolutely bloody awful this engine sounds when cold? It sounds like some old diesel at first, which is very alarming when you've just done an oil change and find yourself wondering if you actually put the oil back in. I guess it's the direct injection system.
