GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Absolutely gutted for you. It’s been a complete shitshow.

Did you get an email from Toyota Online about a collection date or was it just your dealer? As I had both, just wondering if the dealer had missed confirming with Toyota online as they were the ones who registered once it got to my dealer and was all confirmed apparently. He said it all the paperwork was taken care of by Toyota online.
Just my dealer, who was apologetic and frankly, embarrassed.
Emailing TUK now.

I just got an email from Toyota, looks like mine might be free! I might forgive them at that point :p

"Your GR86 has arrived! We'll be contacting you soon to arrange handover and this is where I will meet you, when you collect your car."

Getting to the point where I think stuff in writing is more valuable.
Have queried how to go about raising an official complaint.
I also called today to ask about raising an official complaint, was told (nicely) that it wouldn’t help solve my current issue and wouldn’t lead to an outcome, not sure what else you can do though. Count yourself lucky, at least your car is at the dealer!😀

Same e-mail at 16.00. Looks likes we arrived on the same transporter :)

True, at least the car is at the dealer.
And it might not help solve my problem, but I think it needs to go on the record if their ordering process is so appalling that it actually makes the customer feel like they're deliberately taking the piss.

Just had call from dealer who expected my car last Friday. Its now showing 10th January.

He apologised, not his fault, and said that he was giving me a courtesy call as he would have hoped TUK would have already been in touch.

He did however say, it could turn up tomorrow and he wouldn't be surprised as its all over the shop.

So who the hell knows, ive now decided that dates mean he haw and until I have the keys I won't believe anything they say

My god they are utterly useless aren't they. I think we will be glad to see the back of that side of Toyota's business.

Hope you get your cars soon guys.
I got an update today - mine was due in batch 1 early Dec, then moved to mid Dec, todays update - "latter part of the month"... call me sceptical but something tells me there wont be any car deliveries anywhere in the latter part of the month with Christmas/holidays/NY etc.

And they had me down as finance payment - MyT says Cash, I asked for a finance quote but didnt take it any further.

Deposit paid, nothing else so far. Residing myself to the fact it'll be a Jan delivery at best, which in the grand scheme of things isnt the end of the world just frustrating when the car landed in the UK in June!

I was told my car would be week two or three of December. After reading what everyone has gone through, I think a more realistic view of mid to late Jan is going to be appropriate instead. What a shitshow.

Since I'm further up the line than you (10:21 order, car arrived Portbury Dec 1st) I'm resigning myself to Jan/Feb too. Which is annoying as I'd (optimisitically) thought they'd get a move on and get the backlog cleared ASAP so didn't arrange an interim car when my current lease car goes back.
If I don't want to be without a car for 2 months I have a couple of weeks to sort an alternative :(

On the plus side, there's a nice C63 PPP for sale nearby...

Dealer just emailed and indeed the car got to them today!! Haven't got payment details yet though so called toyota online too, waiting for the email. How difficult is to press send after they finish a call?
Looks like I will collect a week from today.
I called Toyota Online earlier for an update (as I know I won't be getting one from my nominated dealer...) and to ask when they're intending to take the cash payment, as I was told a couple of weeks ago that I was in the first batch of early December deliveries and was on the list to request the payment some time next week.

This prompted them to send me an email requesting the payment, which I received pretty much right away. Whilst they couldn't provide me with a specific time frame for the delivery, they said it was due to be delivered "soon", which upon further probing meant "within 10 days, maybe even sooner".

Take it with a pinch of salt, there's a lot of reluctance by Toyota Online to give us any definite timescales, and I don't blame them for it (judging by past experience), even though I think it should be them giving us an update, not us chasing for it.

I share my frustration with all of you but please make sure to be polite and professional in any interactions with the customer service staff, as they're almost definitely not the ones to blame for this circus (which I'm sure all of you are anyhow). :)

I am also going to complain about the unilateral specification change removing the rear parking sensors from the standard equipment list of manual cars. I don't really think it is fair for the customers, for Toyota UK to spin it as a "discrepancy" on the website. I can't believe they have consistently made mistakes in every step of this sales process!

I wonder if Toyota Online still do the typical new car sale feedback surveys you usually get a few weeks after delivery?

I can’t imagjne they will be scoring very well from the GR86 collective.

One things for sure, this whole experience means I’m never ordering directly from Toyota again, possibly not ever anything full stop.

Amazing how wrong they have got this process compared to Tesla’s online ordering process who were super smooth throughout.

I recognize they are not entirely responsible for some of the problems we have had but they are the team we must contact to inquire about our purchase and the ones to organize payment, registration, etc. 3 hours have passed since my call ended where they promised I would receive payment instructions and I haven't, they close shop at 4pm so they must have forgotten and that means I need to call them for the 3rd time in as many days, surely something they would want to avoid.

Where are the "take my money" gifs?

Sorry, I only replied to your post as it was referencing Toyota not requesting a payment in time and then sending it to you following the call, as that related to my recent experience with them. :)

The rest of the post was a general PSA for everyone. I side with everyone who's experienced confusing and frustrating lack of customer service or care from Toyota. But some people may take that frustration out on the wrong people or in the wrong way.
