For no particular reason at all I thought I would have quick google at US second hand 86's, I will definitely be keeping hold of my order!! That 1 K Toyota are holding looks like a good investment if UK market is similar!!

Yeah I think they’ll be 10k over list here at least. Look at the jimny of which there are a fair few thousand. They’re going for 10-12k over list for low mileage and even a 30-40k mile example is 7k over list.

You’d have to be mad to pay 30% over list for one of these. Someone might try and get £40k but there won’t be a long queue of buyers!

From looking at the other forum many dealers have been charging over list for the new cars so the second hand prices aren't a surprise. At least they have cars in the US!

I think that about the jimny. I love them and would love one for my fly fishing trips to the highlands but there’s literally no chance I’m paying 30k for a tiny 4X4 that’s pretty shit to drive on anything other than fucked forestry trails and off road courses.

Some people just like the exclusivity and will happily pay way over list, look at Rolex, at the end of the day they’re mass produced watches (high quality granted) and they go for double or sometimes multiple times over retail. Although that’s due to artificial supply constraints rather than actual rarity.

Only going to get madder, inflation at 10% and rising, new civic is priced from 30k now for the basic model, if someone wants a GR86 they’ll pay what the market dictates and with such scarce supply you can bet they’ll be scalped to 🤬. I’ll put money on the new CTR release being a 🤬 show too, there’ll be way more demand for that.

I paid $33k total with accessories and KBB trade value right now is $38.5K. That’s exactly what I would expect to get on a trade. I may try to trade straight up on a local dealer’s 2022 Grabber Blue Mustang GT that’s $41K. You never know. lol

That’s the hustler in me. I really just need a truck and can’t find one that’s not outrageously priced. I want a Ford Maverick but 2023 orders took maybe 1 week to fill so now that’s out till next Fall to order a ‘24.

It’s crazy out there.

If Toyota marketed the car 2023, it would be a £35k car, just because of the cost hikes associated with supply chain woes.

There will be folk that will buy UK cars for £35k+

* no waiting
* exclusive 430 cars ONLY
*positive auto journal reviews
*classic status the moment its driven off the sales forecourt

as and when it turns up there is a warm feeling that residuals will be higher than RRP for 2 years plus.

The interest rate on the finance would probably be 8-9% in 2023 too.

That is an interesting thought. I remember back from about 2000 to 2015 there were a lot of different economic factors going on in the world up and down but one of the things that was interesting is that the car companies apparently had their ducks in a row and the financing in place because it always seem like financing followed a trend with the economy but it was never as bad for auto financing as it would get for other products.

That could’ve all been a function of very specific factors that aren’t in play here, but it is some thing I observed and I honestly don’t expect financing rates to get to eight or 9%. I think 5% for good credit and three years is definitely something we will see if we don’t already.

I talk to text a lot so be patient. Otherwise I don’t have time to even be doing this. I’m driving down the road right now. Lol

I know Honda are at 6.9 as it stands although their finance rates are always high it seems but Hyundai have gone from 4.9 on the i30N a couple months ago to 8.2 as of October 1st. Mercedes are at 7.9, BMW seem to average 5.9 with a few at 7.9 and even 8.9!

I don’t remember them being that high in recent years apart from on used cars maybe.

Oh, that is high! Wow!

I’m more likely to flip mine now after collectIon. And these points are what’s in my head, I’m looking at other cars and costs have rocketed and if the GR86 was available now it would be near £35k for sure. I will likely wait to see what the going rate is when they start going on auto trader and undercut them all for a quick sell.
