GR86 Why Aren’t GR86’s being Delivered?

I just read the threat again: one of the 3 changes is about assistant systems...

More is not known.

Parking sensors - these are listed in the UK Brochure as an optional extra

Stuff I think is "missing" from the EU/UK cars I have seen on-line (page 30 onwards in UK Brochure).
As I haven't seen a real GR86 I stand to be corrected by those fortunate few who have :-)

- GR embossed headrests
- GR scuff plates
- door handle protection film (?)
- rear bumper protection film (?)
- locking wheel nuts (?)
- red stitching on gear stick
- red stitching on hand brake

I am a simple man- so all cars might be delayed because someone forgot to ship some car mats or whatever, right?
 
I’m pretty sure they won’t be holding cars back because of parking sensors/red stitching/embossed headrests etc.

It will likely be stuff needed to get it through approvals, so safety or emission related I’d guess.

The two dudes from the German forum are delivering insider Infos for 10 years and were in more then 90% accurate.

But believe what you want, I will not try to convince you.
 
I honestly hope they aren't holding them up to fit a stupid mirror or drill out my lovely blue bumper!

I just want the car and don't care about minor spec changes.

Or it could be nothing at all just delays in cars making it through Derby 🤷‍♂️ they'll come when they come.
 
Wouldn't it be nice if Toyota were honest with those customers whose cars are already in the UK? If they said 'this is the issue, it's going to take X weeks to sort' then I'd accept it. The evading of questions and false information given to dealers does not give a good impression.

I think most of us are fine with the cars coming whenever they arrive - it is the lack of information and being shady about it what makes it quite odd.

On the 25th of April (just checked my previous posts) Toyota called me to confirm my order and gave me an expected delivery date of "late August to early September". The car is currently somewhere in Derbyshire (I presume Inchcape) according to the app. All this wailing about a delay causes me great amusement as (so far as I can tell) Toyota are way ahead of schedule.

I think a lot of this angst comes from how people have become accustomed to everything arriving 'next day'. Amazon don't do car manufacture.

Funny you say that, a colleague at lunch asked how my car was coming along and I said it was stuck in Derby for a bit. His reaction was "oh so it might arrive early then?" As last time we spoke around April I'd told him the same estimates as you! :ROFLMAO:(y)
 
Just thinking about the worse case scenario…..

Cars need to go through type approval before 6th of July 2022 to beat the deadline for all the extra stuff that will kill the GR86 off in 2024, intelligent speed restriction, pedestrian safety etc.

What if the car they put through type approval is the wrong spec due to the ordering issue already discussed and they have to do it again, that would mean they have missed the 6th July cutoff and they wouldn’t be able to sell in EU unless they make all the mods (which they have already said isn’t practical).

Maybe that is why they are being so sheepish and they are trying to negotiate with the approvals agency. Fingers crossed that is not the case😬
