They'll be accumulating quite a bit of interest with all of these deposits if deliveries are up till the end of 23Yep - he said exactly that! Those with orcas issued around 11.30 Won’t get theirs until end of 2023!

Yep! He also confirmed that having an ORCA means you have a car! That's reassuring - I'm happy to get my car at the end of next year.
There are a 1000 people on the waiting list to take any cars not accepted!Pointless having a demo if no more left to buy. Glad they are doing the sensible thing of offering them to customers.
Although that being said I imagine there are a few people that want to try before they actually take delivery?
With inflation outstripping interest - they will probably lose money…They'll be accumulating quite a bit of interest with all of these deposits if deliveries are up till the end of 23![]()
I think I would still like a test drive before taking delivery, just in case.Pointless having a demo if no more left to buy. Glad they are doing the sensible thing of offering them to customers.

That's really great news! Thank you for that, it's been the main thing missing from the comms from TGB. I went from thinking I definitely have a car (because I have an order number) to speaking with them and being told I may not, then being told they expect that everybody will get a car to you just now confirming that if you have an ORCA, you definitely have a car!Yep! He also confirmed that having an ORCA means you have a car!
Even if it drives like a bag of sh1t (which it won’t) it’s still worth buying to have a limited run car that is most likely going to be worth more second hand than it was new.I think I would still like a test drive before taking delivery, just in case.
Makes me wish I had ordered 2, one to use and abuse and one to stick in a barn under a dust sheet and sell in 10 years for a million quid![]()
And to be fair even if you hate the thing after a test drive, you'd be nuts not to take it. I mean it's free money! There are a 1000 people on the waiting list to take any cars not accepted!
As somebody who got a confirmation at 11:06 and wanted the car as a stop gap before my Emira is delivered this is bad news.So good news! I just got the call at 6pm this eve! Very interesting chat - here’s some of the highlights:
1) The allocation for uk is roughly 400 units. It is unlikely to be increased as the supply chain will not be able to cope with any more in the 2 year period. They were expecting to sell out in Days, not minutes - it took them by surprise! (Edit: the 400ish units are the whole UK allocation over the two years. That’s all folks!)
2) Delivery will be between now and the end of 2023. Build slots being allocated in chronological order, so if you received a confirmation at 11.30am for example - you will be in for a bit of a wait!
3) Waiting list was closed with over 1000 people waiting. Most will not get an allocation.
4) A Number of the cars which were planned for test-drives are now being allocated to buyers. This explains why some have June/July delivery ETAs. You got lucky!
5) GR Centers without 86 deliveries will not be getting a tester.
That’s about all I remember - we spoke for 30 minutes! Ask if you have any specific questions - I might have more info!
Cheers!
I also have an Emira on order, initially due August but now September and likely to slip further…tbh I think I’m going to cancel, buy something for the summer then enjoy the GR86 as a long term when it does eventually arrive. The Emira was always a bit spicy for me financially, only ever done max £50k cars so £85k was making me feel uncomfortable really and I know I wouldn’t enjoy the car as much.As somebody who got a confirmation at 11:06 and wanted the car as a stop gap before my Emira is delivered this is bad news.
£1000 earning Toyota interest for 18 months
Yep - things don’t go to plan - but hey - you will own a couple of rare cars next year!As somebody who got a confirmation at 11:06 and wanted the car as a stop gap before my Emira is delivered this is bad news.

I’m waiting for the Base Edition as I didn't like the idea of £80k, but £60k is imaginable. I hoped I would get the GR at the end of the summer, fall in love with it, pull out of the Emira and save the additional spend.I also have an Emira on order, initially due August but now September and likely to slip further…tbh I think I’m going to cancel, buy something for the summer then enjoy the GR86 as a long term when it does eventually arrive. What dealershipI've seen a brand new GR Yaris in a showroom the other day, you could easily open doors and sit inside. Completely pointless but anyway.
Sorry, bad quoting, this is a reply to @byebyeMX5 ...If that was Shannon at Stortford she got the info from me after I'd ordered with all the info from here and called to tell her - massive thanks to GR-Zoo and the community for helping us all out!
We probably wouldn't have an allocation without this forum.
Marketing. Still boosts the GR brand.I've seen a brand new GR Yaris in a showroom the other day, you could easily open doors and sit inside. Completely pointless but anyway.
