GR86 Some pics of my work in progress.

Do not trust that at all. reminds me of those transistor things you could buy from ebay to fool the ecu into thinking the outside temperature was cold. What do you think? 10+ hp from some plug and play box?

You'd probably gain more from changing to Magical Fuses. A few swear by them but on a new car with new fuses, how much would you gain in reality?

I think its Blitz version of a Racechip. If I can get the power increase as published, then it's £160 very well spent. If not... Well, one less night out for the Mrs and me...:p

Hi Alan, it will be interesting to know. The Americans think it won't do anything because the oem ecu will readjust but no one proved / disproved that

I don't think the OEM ECU can adjust anything that the blitz will modify. Reason being, it intercepts the signals from sensor to ECU. So it modifies the signal before sending to the ECU. An ECU can only work on what is recieves.

On a turbo car, these tuning boxes work extremely well as the will modifies maf/p, and turbo pressure. I had a racechip on my mini cooper s before and the box of tricks gave me a decent amount of increase. I would guess 40bhp and 70lbs torque. The car was night and day diff.

Now as our cars are NA, the benefits if any are not going to be so big. If this box was not from a established Japanese tuner, I would not have bothered.... The Japanese do not tend to lie and I believe them. My only concern is will it work 100% with our UK cars as the box is designed for the JDM model.

Oh how quaint, piggyback ECUs, didn't realise these were still a thing. Could be a cheap and non intrusive way of extracting a bit more power.

This is the same concept, they manipulate sensor outputs to fool the ECU. In this case, it's inline with the MAF sensor, you can get a similar effect by moving the MAF like on some intake designs, those that claim to net more power but not because of the better airflow but because they lean out the AFR from repositioning the MAF. I'm guessing the effect is similar, its still crude but shouldn't be a concern from the likes of Blitz.

Blitz Power Con X installed and happy to report no Error codes or loss in power.

Fits onto and intercepts the Air Flow sensor.

Cant really say if it is any more powerful. Feels more torquey through the gears but that could be purely placebo effect kicking in....

The next track day at Bedford will tell all on the back straight....

After removing and destroying the TRD (replica) spoiler, can confirm the GT86 rear wing needs a lot of work....

Not looking to the hours ahead removing the 3m double sided.

Just make sure you don't get it on any bare plastic, and wash it off afterwards as it's pretty savage (from what I've heard).

yeah, I got some alcohol on the black tops of the rear lights, saw it start to eat.... luckily neutralised it before lasting damage.
