GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

New rear brakes, MOT soon, and the old discs were toast. Discs from Godspeed to match the fronts, std Toyota pads. The old ones were 37k miles and 5 years old.

Snapped up some GRMN titanium wheel bolts, arrived and fitted today. Got them to save a little unsprung mass, but they look pretty cool too :)
Are they OEM wheels? The nuts look like they’re for aftermarket-type wheels, 60 degree taper or whatever it is. OEM wheel/nut mating surface is flat, the wheels and nuts need to match.

Oh balls, didn't notice that. Wonder if these will enable me to use them

Even with flat converters you are losing half the thread engagement on the wheel stud as you will be missing the shank from the original lug nuts. The more thread engagement the better.. 8 to 10 turns of th nut you are looking. With the missing shank I would guess you are using only about 5.

After sweating for the past 3 weeks or so, I had an update from the repair centre that they're ordering the parts to repair my car after my shunt and we aren't in write-off territory. So much relief right now, and so happy I'll be getting it back. New steering rack, front knuckle and strut, plus wing and front bumper/grille assembly.

Had a good chat with the fella there and they've done 2 GRs previously, which gives me some hope that they know what they're doing. He said it was a pity I had my winter wheels on or I'd have got a new CP wheel, the last one they did needed two at £1600 each.

Oh no @MrJ I'd missed this - just catching up on your earlier posts - nightmare, sorry to see the damage but glad it can be repaired. Assuming it's a keeper like our old Minis this'll become a small part of it's story over the years. Will keep fingers crossed for the repair!

I've been kicking myself for such a stupid incident at a junction I know so well, but having had some time to reflect I can also count myself lucky that no one was hurt and also that the wheel took most of the impact, so it's bolt on stuff that can be replaced. Thankfully it was right on the corner and missed everything structural!

It will be two-tone for a while though, while I decide whether to re-wrap the front bits or go back to white. Asked AI for some help... Marlboro rally livery anyone? ;)
