I wasn't in the initial group purchase - are there any spare? I've just bought some Focal speakers so would be an ideal job to do whilst the door cards are off . . . (or a pointer to a supplier of a suitable fibre washer x2)

Fitted it today , did the content 'sigh' opening and closing the door a few times too. Tetley's style.

I will say that when all put back together , my passenger door was making a 'clat clat clat' noise when trying to lock the car, it locked still but not sure what the issue was so took the two cables off the inside of the door handle and back on again and all good after that

This happened to me when I wrapped the little plastic cover which covers the screw sitting behind the door handle. It fouled the little rocker switch for the lock - when the servo couldn't engage it, it bounced and prevented the door from locking. I'm guessing that in your case, maybe the cables just weren't seated properly.

It's amazing how much nicer the car feels after this problem is sorted. No more opening the door like Arkwright's till and wincing preparing for that awful cracking noise.

Aha. that must have been it, as i didnt actually see anything wrong but disassembling and reassmbling sorted it so it could well have been that !
 
Did the driver's door this afternoon.

Took me about 2 hours including hunting for the tools including a suitable blade to cut the black glue on the vapour barrier. I used a pair of tweezers to put the washer on and was very careful not to drop anything into the bowels of the door.

Agree with the other posters how much nicer the car is every time I get out or wind down the window. It's amazing how much lasting pleasure can be had from something so tiny.

Pull the door handle slightly, pop off the cover behind it, one screen there.
Then pop off the cover in the little nook in the elbow rest, two screws under there.
After that, starting at the front edge of the door card, pull it away to unclip the pop clips holding it in place. Work your way around the bottom and make sure you unplug the puddle light in the bottom. Once all the clips are undone, you can lift it up and away, then get behind to unplug the window switches and door lock/handle cables.
 
Has anyone had trouble getting parts from Toyota Parts Direct? I ordered two of these 'special' washers along with some wiper blades and because the wipers are 'on back-order' they delayed the whole order! I want to get on and do this mod and change my speakers and put some sound deadening in the doors, whilst the door cards are off - I have everything else already.

It's worth also saying that you may find that some of the white plastic pop clips may remain in the door.

Before you try and put the door card back on, pop them out of the door and slot them back in to the relevant holders in door card.

Another little tip is to give the window glass a little wiggle up or down if you are struggling to reattach the metal guide onto the thread with your new washer.
 
Anyone got some available before i order them from toyota is the part number x2 SU003-12334 ? also 4 is better than 2 ?
 
Thanks for this thread. Also, helpful videos on YouTube for door card removal / fitting. Fitted the washer on drivers side today, so much better without the window click / clunk every time the door was opened.
