Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

Saw my first Ioniq 5 N on the (UK) motorway yesterday. In a dark grey colour which I think really suited it.

Seeing it surrounded by other cars of different shapes and sizes meant it looked big in comparison to most, but it had an impressive amount of presence on the road and looked rather special. Certainly more appealing in real life than in pictures/on video.
Quite a coincidence because I also met my first motorway 5 N like 3 days ago, also dark grey. Yep they have a surprising amount of presence, one I'm completely ignorant about sitting in one myself, same applies to the 86 and GR Yaris.

I do take care to keep mine as dirty as possible, as I like the functional sleeper look 😜

Thanks for taking your time to write something nice.

I do wonder what you are, and how you can get so provoked by someone saying they love to drive an EV

To many people EVs are political, and politics is the modern religion.

Visitors of a car exhibition sceptical of EVs get a ride in a 5 N. In French, put on the youtube autotranslate subtitles if you don't speak it.

Fairly typical reaction of passenger I take along, it's good fun 😁😁😁

Wow, they look like they're smoked about 2 kilos of happpy weed to me.
Disgusting you can be that happy.

You sound like fun!

My older kids literally beg me to floor it and want to bring all their friends. Never happened before. My soon 2 year old wants to go for random car drives, too. Even my wife can't hold back giggles and she usually hates it when I exceed ~0,175G.
Car friends love to come along. 'Normal' people get out in shock and awe, didn't expect that.... And not just talking about simple acceleration, they've sat in Teslas before, rather the whole dynamism of the car.

And you can tell I love it too....

PS running A052 tyres now, amazing tyres and the car handles the added grip without a sweat.

WoW, You really have it "bad" don't you?
Have you thought about therapy or something. Maybe jumping off a high mountain with a pair of wings.

You do realise /you/ are in a thread about this car?

Why this blatant disrespect? Where has electric car hurt you?

Yes I'm a driver enthusiast and yes, I love this driver's car that happens to have an electrical drivetrain that mostly makes it even better.

Deal with it, preferably eleswhere!

Shiv from Vishnu tuning has also gone out wide that he LOVES his 5 N too. And he has owned and worked on most cars worth owning with a gasoline engine, and currently has an FF and 458 in his garage, but still prefers to take the 5 N out on a daily basis - for Driving with a big D. Basically argumenting against his own shop because he can't tune them.

Yes it's THAT GOOD and makes enthusiasts speak from the heart. Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Aston Martin have all acknowledged, low-key, that the 5 N formula with virtual gears are the way forward for fun EVs.

But it's also shaking up invisible barriers because some people have beforehand decided they will never like an electric car, and quite some will also disprespect anyone that likes them...

For sure a lot of people that actually want a 5 N aren't getting one because they don't want to deal with the backlash from their peers...

This is the only EV that has peaked my interest in the past few years. Glad to see you're enjoying it. For me, an EV just doesn't make sense to own. I have a company van and take the 86 our purely for back lane blasts or if i'm going away somewhere on my own for a weekend or whatever.

I'm in conversation with our fleet manager about potentially getting a company car instead of a a van, and I'd happily have an EV. I have gripes with a lot of modern cars, but it's for their phobia of tactile driver controls and intrusive ADAS systems which are impossible to turn off. the type of drivetrain doesn't bother me too much in a work car. also, financially they make much more sense as a company car. I wonder if the N is on the list...

Long press lane and volume mute buttons on steering wheel simultaneously switches of lane assist and speed warning. Takes 3s. It's become automatic don't even remember doing it most of the time....
