Sounds quite conservtive add for extra 40hp. with Motec/syvecs I could believe that but not with stock ecu.
 
My car received it's ecutek tune via (hub) dyno. I watched the complete tuning process, and spoke at length with the (highly experienced) tuner. This tuner does a GRY every 2 weeks.

My car is a fairly standard example, yet it took around 8-10 (I wasn't counting) dyno runs to settle on a good tune. There are obviously many variables to take into account (temp, fuel, mods etc) to determine an adequate tune. 'Adequate' being still protective of engine internals and longevity.

These are just my musings, since this thread is filled with questions regarding the number of times ecutek maps have been sent for bluetooth upload via the OBD dongle.

There is no single perfect generic map, which is why numerous iterations are often required.

Yeah I admit it does sound unusual, but given how quickly boost decreases (stock) I wouldn't be surprised.

I'll do some logging and report back.
 
Would be interesting to hear thoughts on WHP figures converted to flywheel figures as in the % that's used.

Just to go back on this. When i went to capture some logs, i was unable to recreate the effect. So possibly some ECU trims had kicked in?

Now it's good with one reservation which is that when trying to accelerate in higher gears with say 3k on the tacho it seems like its making noise rather than power, so possibly some torque limiting going on. i don't mean going WOT at 3k either.
 
has ecutec found its way through torque limitations or does it have the same issue with all the tuners?
just thinking if that's something that some tuners have been able to unlock whereas other not? Not many state this clearly, so its line in water..?
 
There are definitely still some torque restrictions in the tune - a cold engine, for example - but in normal driving I find it is just super consistent with none of the ‘is that it?!’ you sometimes get with the standard ECU.

Eventuri intake
DO88 turbo intake pipe
Turbo smart plumb back BOV
HKS 2” intercooler piping
Litchfield motors intercooler
Weldspeed intake manifold
Whifbitz resonated gpf….
Whifbitz titanium gpf back exhaust

The next mod is a HJS downpipe (managed to pick one up used fortunately). I have really tried to maximise the area under the graph over all out power. If I go any further and it’s a big if due to the cost it would be Syvecs and valve springs. That will really achieve what I want. Looking forward to seeing what the HJS contributes.

Exhaust heat wrap……..and turbo blankets. Are they worth doing on a road car?

Have been keeping quiet on this but my Gen2 is currently fitted with flexfuel and a “light” EcuTek remap.

Once the development is finished and the exhaust I want is ready it will be off to whifbitz for a “full” remap and hope to come away around 350bhp on 99 Octane (although looking at the graph above with similar mods possibly up to 370bhp).
